Thought I'd check out the snow conditions/levels on this break day, booted up the trail toward Maggies about 15 minutes before switching to skinning (you can ski from the old/new trail intersection). Snow was supportable in some places but deep and wet in others, not particularly good turning, but I was pleasantly surprised at the coverage, here's a look at the Kalmia region:Attachment 180515
Here's my full report from the snow event on last Saturday:

Not going to make it to KW today. Doesn't seem worth the $$. Maybe in s few days.
One to two inches at 7,800'.
Yeah
I think we will make it up
I want to give a shout out here to the guys at Expedition Kirkwood for the great old farts clinic yesterday
Can't wait to shred some slush bumps tomorrow.
Do what does a KW buddy pass cost?
KW buddy pass was around $70, mid-season on a weekend. I don't know if there are different levels of buddy passes.
From what I understand there is not. Same price now as New Year's Day.
I'll be around Sunday with the family. Looking forward to my first day of spring conditions. My son will wonder where all his layers went.
Left work after half a day and got to Rose just after 1:00 p.m. Glad I didn't get there any earlier as it was just starting to soften in some spots. Temp was cold all day with a brisk North wind blowing. When the lifts closed at 4:00, the skiing was just getting good. Chutes never opened today. Ventured off the groomed once. Not good. Frozen death gnar.

Life's better with this view.
Big warm up is on tap for this weekend, and with the cold temps the last two nights it could make for a good corn cycle the next few days. Back up tomorrow with an earlier arrival time scheduled.
Pat searching packs with high profile security at Kirkwood today. A bit odd. Snow was pretty good.
Yeah the backpack searching was definitely odd, is that even legal?
