I can confirm with photo and video evidence that this weekend was pretty great. Had a great tour Sunday with Panchosdad and Criscam where every lap was better than the last. We intended to go again yesterday but my lower back chose to keep me couch bound for a minute. But yeah, lots of pow turns Saturday and Sunday.

The bowl was honking this morning. I love it.
Face splashes every turn in a gotdam sideways whiteout. Sorry I didn't wait for you Lindsay, I was taken for 50 pop and splash boottoppers. What a hoot.
Lost a ski today over in Expert chutes. Far skiers left as far left as you can ski before they have the closed cliff signs. Last day of my trip, hasn’t turned up at lost and found. Looked all over, but likely well beneath the snow, or it slid over into the cliff area and down below.
Twenty-Seventeen Moment Meridian, one-eighty seven length, mounted with green pivot eighteens at rec. long shot, but if any locals manage to find them I would be through the moon. They are by far my favourite ski.

FKNA is right. One of the best in bound days I have had in a long time. Upper mountain skied well all day. We hit Laramie bowl early and had some waist deep turns. Trees held the goods throughout the days. Kids didn’t complain and ripped all day. Thanks Jackson.

I’m taking my son down for the Targhee freeride comp on Saturday. I don’t really want to buy tickets for Sunday and it looks warm. I’d love to take him out for a tour. Anyone willing to share a good tour where we could ski something fun and north facing? Feel free to put it in a PM.

Going to pass through the hole on a long road trip in March. Any reason not to stay at the hostel in the village? I will be living in my car for the preceeding 2 weeks, sleeping in resort lots. The person I am hooking up with there is not down with incognito camping in ski lots for some strange reason. Open to other recommendations for non-vehicular lodging if you have em.
Hike up Glory and head north. You can keep going for about 5 bowls if you want. Some steep terrain, especially right off the top of Glory, but should be good stability by the weekend. I'll be at the comp picking up after the carnage. Pretty fun watching these kids get after it.Quote:

Anyone here successfully challenged a Jackson parking ticket for parking overnight in the public garage? I got one for being on the roof area - couldn't see any signs warning of that when I drove in, and there's nothing out front warning you either.
The city code violation on the ticket references parking on "streets" between 3-7 AM during winter months. A parking garage isn't a street.

I would 100% ignore it. My old boss at my job in town had no fewer than 20 parking tickets over the course of a couple year span (parking in town is brutal in the summer). Nothing ever happened to him. Only caveat would be if you're in a rental car 'cause then sometimes the rental car company will charge you the cost of the ticket + a "processing fee" of an obscene amount of money.Quote:

I picked up some reverse camber Icelandic gypsys for $25 with touring bindings this fall. This was his first day skiing them. 170cm and 125 under foot. Surfboards! He was stoked on them. You can see how fun the they are in this vid

Yesterday was deeep. Some of the best pow turns of the season for me on the swiss cheesed Kusalas from Byates that I finally mounted. Sick ski.

Echoing how MF good the skiing was this weekend and probably deepest turns of the year. It was somewhat warm and moist storm skiing but it somehow is stayed light enough.

Monday was great bell to bell. Today was too warm though. We will need some significant snow to reset.
First time skiing JH today. What an amazing place. The first run off the top down central was unreal.
Good few days at Targhee and one at JH (yesterday). Ran into Jackattack at Targhee. Spotting other HL Skis seems to be the dead giveaway now. Good deep days on that side of the pass. Big warm up and high winds weren't ideal yesterday but we still found some good snow.
Coming down with my kid this weekend. Looks like some new snow and forecasted cool temps. Looking forward to it.

The public comment period just opened for Grand Targhee's proposed expansion. Curious to hear what people think as I know there are strong opinions on both sides. I work for Targhee so I have some bias but wanted to hear what the collective had to say. More info found here: https://grandtargheeresorteis.org/

I have skied Targee dozens of times over the past 15 years, but only moved to the region this season, so I don't have the context to understand how expanding the SUP to include Mono Trees and South Bowl would impact the skier community. What was the general community attitude in the previous comment period?
That's a lot of buildings. In my mind, that is going to change the character of the resort much more significantly than lift expansion. Restaurant at the summit of Freds and the top of Sac seems excessive. Top of Sac would be more beneficial for skiers, considering the bulk of the skiing would shift south with the Mono and SB expansion.Quote:
