Would parking reservations on busy days not help the situation?
Feel like it would cause more frustration for a majority of people. If you get there on time I've never had issues with being able to park. It's more or less when you show up after 9 am that you can run into problems.Quote:

I'm guessing A Basin has the same transportation challenge as Winter Park. A majority of the skiers come from the front range and don't go into town. But don't worry, if you show up when the skiing gets good your can probably snag a spot from Garry Golden who has to peace out to get Jr. down the hill to Lacrosse practice.

Seems like it only takes them about ~80 hours of snowmaking to open High Noon since the snowmaking system was upgraded a few seasons ago. I'm going with a 10/27 opening.

^I feel like they wouldn't have been blowing the last 3/4 days if they weren't trying to open 10/20 or 21. That said there are still massive dirt piles and construction shit in the parking lot
warmish week ahead which is good for putting water back into their snowmaking reservoir but may limit windows for making snow, guess we'll see how cold it ends up getting at night up there this coming week.
They're simply trying to open ASAP and that's weather/temp dependent. This time of year, they'll make snow when they can and then let the snowmaking reservoir replenish itself when it's too warm to blow. They probably have 35-40 hours of snowmaking to go (in order to open High Noon) and I just don't see favorable temps for that over the next 5 or 6 days. Hence, my 10/27 opening 'guess'.Quote:

There's only been one season since snowmaking began in '03 when they weren't able to open in October and that was the abnormally hot, dry, wildfire Fall of '20. November 9th that year.
^Definitely a good read. I was really banking on the original predicted storm for this week helping out their cause. That storm completely fizzled out and it looks evident that there will be no opening this weekend.
