A little more for this discussion. My bet is there was a plan in pre-production and the run up to release to tout this as adjustable, but for whatever reason- perhaps because there was no possible way to impact lean by any orientation of the female piece- they decided to abandon touting this feature, didn’t imprint the arrow in the female piece, and changed the company line on what the lean angles are and how one adjusts things to achieve said leans.
Again, that’s my guess.

Yes it's 12 from the factory. Yes there is a slight eccentricity to the female bosses to get that extra degree if flipped.

Looked at your photo again Jake, and it does look like the nipples on your insert pins are offset. Look at the green boot photos and then yours again.
Ah this is helpful NorCal. Much easier to see the slight offset of the threaded holes in the metal protrusions of the female piece and how that could theoretically alter where the external metal bar sits slightly. That is a mighty incremental adjustment, but I guess so is 1deg.Quote:

No arrow but there is the notch on the baseplate that is also on yours. Looks like that notch tells you which end has the hole drilled closer to the edge of the eccentric boss. Most likely did that for a cheaper mold.Quote:

Cool- I think this is settled. Funny though, between my two boots the one I took apart at work and photographed is noticeably smaller incremental change than my other boot which I just took apart to change. There is definitely a small offset there which, when position so that the notch is facing up, allows for external piece to sit between .5-1mm higher on the spine.
I think one principal point of confusion for me in this was that the offset wasn't in the holes on the female piece, but rather holes offset on the male pieces of the female piece. Leave it to 2019 for gender fluidity and non-binary characteristics to sully up tech'n out on ski boots.

Here’s what I am sayin- notch up on both “female” pieces.
Left boot done at home visibly higher than the right boot dissected at work.

Jake, when are you skiing them? Would be interested to hear if you can feel the difference.
Sadly I may not ski them for a while. Have some vkatanas w/ hybrid speedrad/plumguide that I can get these on just to satisfy my curiosity of on snow feel. But really these are replacing some mtn labs that busted a handful of ski days after sending them to Bormio to get outfitted with the bracket to use with the TR2, which is on my vmantra. Frustrating, but I kinda know what I need to know about these boots already: they fit me great- snug as a bug in all the right places, and wayyyy more forward ROM than the Mtnlab- a big factor in getting these.
That said we have a big ole heavy coast storm on tap here for Sunday, probably a good day to let the Kats out.

Wait, jong question, am I supposed to put the white, dimpled stock footbed inside my liner? Isn't that the bootboard? I don't think mine came with footbeds in the box; think I'm just skiing them with my foot in the liners.
Lastly, even though there's a photo of Tom from Intuition, you don't discuss which liners you'd upgrade to? I'm ok with the stocks but thinking I'd like a little more volume taken up. Interested to hear your thoughts on which Intuitions are candidates to replace the stock.

The ZGTP should have footbeds. The OE footbeds are light and not terribly substantial but if you try the boots on with the OE liners instore without any footbeds I bet the instep will feel too high and on snow your feet will probg get cold. When the liners or OE footbeds self destruct ( not yet) I will go to Protours and /or use my semicustom Sole footbeds.Quote:

On paper and on the workbench with liners out, they seem about the same. In the field, I get more ROM out of the ZGTP - the small circumference of the cuff in the Hawx Ultra XTD means rearward travel is limited by the front of my ankle hitting the inside of the boot. The ZGTP liners are lower volume and take up way less space than my 200 day old MV ProTours. I loosen up buckles quite a bit to get the equivalent tightness on Intuitions vs ZGTp
