My Tundra gets mid 13s driving around VT. I still prefer it over anything else in my driveway.

your friend is blowing smoke up your ass, unless he has chipped, deleted, and done a ton of other shit that will equate to another $10k in added cost. My 17 4wd f-250 gets 15-18 all the time, towing 10k plus it drops. The four work trucks that are all diesel get 12-14 with bodies on them. All of the guys I work with all drive the same trucks. We all average the same mileage.
the last work truck we bought last year was a 2022 single cab and chasis with the 10 speed and a powerstroke. It gets 12mpg. And WITHOUT a bed for a XL truck it was over 60k.
and diesel is anywhere from 4.59-5.39 here in VT.
Can't wait for my 807hp sedan to get in..... crap.
^ lol
Reaching $4/gal for reg and 4.25-475 for premium. This is when it sux having 2 vehicles with FI that need 91-93 octane gas.
I bought this Genuine Roughhouse a little over 2 years ago. The rationale for the purchase was my high school senior having his first job 3 miles away but a decent car was too expensive. He's got a car now but I kept it. It will go 45 mph on flat ground and gets over 100 MPG. I'm now using it quite a bit now..

Cue the Dumb and Dumber mini bike jokes hahahaha.. I have spare gloves...
SoVT, I was in a zoom meeting when I typed that…I was actually thinking about my buddy with a ram eco diesel 4x4 crew cab. My friend with the newish f250 extended cab, topper on the back and not much payload, averages 17 or 18 in mixed driving but sometimes breaks into the low 20s on our road trips.
Pretty much lines up with data on fuelly.com if you look at upper 20th percentile. Fuelly is a stupid website that doesn’t take into account trailer towing etc but hey better than nothing.
It’s kinda crazy what mpg modern diesels and transmissions are getting when relatively unloaded in mellow highway driving. Depending on who is driving them of course.
There has to be a lot of GOTOS folks reconsidering the impact of aerodynamic drag.
Or they have so much disposable money to spend on accessories that this doesn’t really impact them.
That sounds pretty much in line. It definitely depends on the running gears too. My last trip out west in the fall we got 14 on the way out on I-80, got 22 on the way back. I had my topper on for that. It’s crazy what a little wind does.
those eco diesels and the f-150 diesel are super efficient, the payloads are really great as well, but the price is hard to swallow for a half ton.
Been paying over $4 per g for over a year, maybe longer, thanks to premium + living in a ski town. Yesterday was $4.59 with my 10 cent City Market discount.
This will make EVs more attractive and the switch away fossil fuels more likely.
Past about the time.
$2/l in Vancouver (don't know what that translates to in usd/us gal) I'm really looking forward to the arrival of my EV.
Yes. Electri Cars and trucks that run on unicorn farts.
And coal. And natty light.
I’m all for efficiency. And yes. Merica loves guzzling jizz at low mpg.
We can all do better.
But give me a high mpg diesel that can burn soybeans.
If not. Fuck it all.
Nuke us. From near earth orbit.
Wow. That mpg is asinine. That would drive me crazy. Cost aside, I just hate going to the gas station all the time. One of the big reasons I want an EV. Refuel in the garage. That sounds REALLY nice.

It suffers from the same issue that all self-reporting data aggregators face: GIGO
If you can find the really anal members <- insert childish joke here - and ignore the noise, it's remarkably accurate.
Obsession with gas prices is one of the dumbest phenomena in American culture. You've gotta eat, and you need shelter, but driving is completely optional for the 'average Joe/Jane'. Ride public transit. Carpool. Uber/Lyft...
Plus, gas is so fucking cheap in the US vs literally everywhere else.
isnt that^^ cuz fuel is highly subsidized ?
fuel is narth of 6$ up here
The main difference is gas is barely taxed here by world standards. Canada's gas tax rate also pretty low but higher than the US
Brent opened up $15 a barrel $130
Gasoline up .32c
Sure glad I bought the business class seats last November. Easily 50% more today. Ooouch!

Guaranteed the local TV news opens with some bimbo standing in front of a gas pump somewhere. Good thing I don't watch it.
Gas is cheep people just like to pretend it should cost a nickle still and fat fuck america will cry all day long about how much it cost instead of actually walking riding a bike or taking the bus lazy I just get pissed when I'm pumping gas and the pump shuts off at 95 dollars and my tank isn't fulled yet but don't get me started def was 12 bucks a jug and now it's 24 bucks two months later gonna start fermenting my own piss to use instead of cow piss
You have high aspirations

I don’t really complain or shop around for gas. I’m going to buy it anyway. If I start to notice how expensive it is, I’ll adjust my mileage accordingly. We have so much affluenza in this country it’s ridiculous to complain about fuel prices
