All the time. Been getting away with murder for ever. Even when there is (blatant)video. Water is rising. Rats are swimming to save their own asses.
I don't understand why cases like this one, where potential douche bag, running from cop, or Ferguson douche bag looking for trouble, become the champions of police brutality and human rights violations. Not saying they deserved what they got, but there are plenty of other cases where there are no arguments for what they got.
No fucking shit, but what do you expect from someone with the name "TomCrac." Hey man, post first, then smoke crack, okay?
The only reason deadly force is EVER justified is in the defense of a life. Someone running away is not a threat, unless they're running to attack someone which this cop has absolutely no reason to believe is what this guy is doing.
It's called Facism.
Do what I say or die
Skiordie
unbelievable
Cops using excessive forve, lying, and getting away with it is an age-old problem. It may not seem like it lately but we are in the process of fixing this problem. Video is taking these fucks down. Here's some resources: http://www.copblock.org/apps/
Lets be honest. ( I know it spoils the fun) A cop doesn't know if it'll be the 6'8" drunk or the 5'2" domestic quarreler or the whatever behind the tinted glass at the road stop that will be the one that gets them killed. "Pilot Error is the top way fliers get offed. A sapling won't fall on a logger eating lunch and kill him very often. The job has definitely gotten more complicated and dangerous since Andy and Barnie were keeping the peace.
A traffic stop isn't even remotely considered as a possible life or death confrontation most other places in the developed (or even undeveloped world) though.
Cops in this country are fucking nuts... I had an off duty SPD cop who was working parking lot access for a building owner put his hand on his taser yesterday when I hit the horn after he'd kept me waiting for 6 cars (and two green lights) to come out of the parking garage.
Then a block further in downtown Seattle three Homeland Security Cops walking along the sidewalk drinking Starbucks dressed like they're ready to invade Yemen after fast roping out of a Stealth helicopter.
Fuck 'em.
You know, you can think better when you aren't spitting and squeezing your eyes shut while you type. What has me worried is that one of the hot spring color combos is black and white. Keep thinking the "magic silver bullet", one size fits all, no cost, one ski quiver, place the blame, type of solution is to be found. You keep on just getting wet, ya hear?
Simply not true. Don't believe the propaganda.

The perception of danger in American society has no logical connection to actual danger. Big Macs and a sedentary lifestyle will kill more people than criminals, terrorists, and cops combined. Driving is the most dangerous thing most people will ever do, yet few even give it a second thought.
CRAP!!! My computer decided to update the OS on it's own and it erased my eloquently worded reply. A synopsis.
Let me rephrase. Being a cop the most dangerous job - To Us. Which is the real concern to me. Because of ever increasing mental cases on the loose, Crazy Drug de Jour, More poor under more pressure with more guns on everyone, a cop today is on high alert for larger portion of his day. Edgy cops=itchy trigger fingers. My nephew left a Game Warden job with all of the outdoor perks the become a cop in a small city in Utah. Said it had better hours and would be much safer. EVERYONE he stopped as a warden was armed and. I should give him a call for his insight.
PNWbrit - Are you nuts!!??!! Honking your horn? In Seattle? At a cop who might be working off his PTSD or RoidRage? You might as well have tossed an M-80 out your window to get his adrenaline to spike and notice you. A car horn has to be the most unnatural sound in the Emerald City. I've lived here 3 years and have only heard a car horn honk 5 times. 3 by me and once by my wife.
2008: US Police were 3.28 times more likely to commit suicide than die from gunfire in the line of duty (141 vs. 41)
2009: US Police were 3.18 times more likely to commit suicide than die from gunfire in the line of duty (143 vs. 45)
2012: US Police were 2.8 times more likely to commit suicide than die from gunfire in the line of duty (126 vs. 45)
In total, the suicides per year are pretty close to overall officer deaths in the line of duty. And many deaths in the line of duty are preventable. The most recent police death in the line of duty was a freshman who flipped his car trying to administer a traffic violation. Take the shitty police decision making out of this situation and nobody dies.

Well, I guess we just have to fire more bad cops and hire fewer bad cops. The one thing I hear very little of is what the good cops are saying. But they don't talk much on line to civilians I guess. From what I have heard is that a lot ore the result of poor decisions by cops with poor training.
The way the system is set up, very difficult to fire a bad cop. If it does happen, they will just get picked up by another department. Not to many good cops will take the risk to speak out against bad cops. Also the way the system is set up there are not enough consequences for bad behavior. Cops/lawyers/DA's/judges can be a pretty tight group. People are getting fed up with a lot of their bullshit. It's getting a bit tougher for them to justify their actions when caught on tape. Still long ways to go. They murdered Eric Garner. All caught on tape and they still got off.
