4th in a super g, that's awesome.
She was a really late runner too (bib 31 of 40). She was leading 3/4 of the way through her run. If she could have podiumed with Gut DNFing, she would have put the rest of the skiing world on serious notice (although 4th is pretty freaking good!)

Note: It sounds like she entered the race somewhat last minute to try to stay ahead of Gut in the standings. Looks like it worked better than expected.
That's hawt!
I've been waiting waiting anxiously for Mikaela to come into her speed as she matures and gets stronger, this is awesome! People say she's too small but I don't agree. At 5'7"/140 lbs (exactly my size LOL), she's got an advantage over Gut at 5'3"/130lbs. Size in the speed events is certainly some advantage, Vonn's 5'10"/160lbs but it's not the only thing. In spite of her size, Gut is obviously a force, and pretty dominant overall in speed. Of course with Vonn getting back up to speed we'll see what happens. As well as technique and strength, IMO balls is a big part of the speed game too, Vonn's got those for sure, hahaha. Too bad for Gut yesterday though, hopefully she's all good. I'm rooting for all these girls!
Wow. If she can do that well in speed events she is going to be a dominant threat for overall for years to come.
BTW, nice to see Anna Veith (Fenninger) running the DH in Cortina. Glad she's making it back.
Another 100 points this evening.
She's so strong and fluid.
Stockholm night race was fun to watch.
She ripped it
She pretty much locked up the overall title.
Sadly, it's because Gut crashed and tore her ACL.
Bad news for Gut...Mikaela just needs to stay upright and not injured. Hope Vonn can win the DH, her hand is giving her fits.
Oh man, that's the first I heard about Gut. Such a bummer, dang.
Damn, that was shaping up to be a good race between the two of them. I saw that Gut didn't complete her run but I hadn't heard that she was injured.
Vonn had a respectable 5th in the Combined today (finished 3rd in the DH portion).
Once Shiffrin starts running DHs, she should easily win any combines that she enters.
GS Silver for our girl today! Great second run, couldn't catch Tessa Worley, though

So fun to watch the vids:

She can bend a ski.
excuse my ignorance, but what the hell is that black rod extending from worley's toe to almost the tip of her ski?
it's there while skiing and not visible on podium, edit - now I see they gave her another pair of skis for podium
Michaela's skis had something similar too...
In fact she has a different color ski all together on the podium.
Tessa Worley's runs:

Its the Atomic double deck, found on almost all Atomic higher end GS, SG, DH FIS skis for the past 5+yrs.
The ski manufacturers always switch out the true race ski for the more friendly general public model for the podiums.
edit: Worley is actaully on Rossi's not atomic, but same idea.
Mofro, I see that, but is this part of it?:

They also have black velcro straps dangling off the backs of their boots to stiffen the flex.

^^^Hydraulic Tip Damping Device
Who knows if it does anything but she should keep using it.
wow, thank you. interesting that it's a Rossi patent and not some 3rd party thing.
