Hmm. That's a good way to think about it. It actually forces me to have some self-control. I guess we'll see how that works out...

I've never understood why people get so worked up about rocks. You get a scratch, fill it with ptex. Get a coreshot, fill it with more ptex. Rip an edge out, glue it back in. What's the big deal?
Maybe I'll snap a photo of the headwall today. Your comment coupled with the state of things here kind of reminds me of the cheese shop skit with Monty Python:
It's pretty rocky up there sir.
No problem, I like rocks.
It might be a bit rockier than you like sir.
No problem, a little ptex and I'll be good to go.
Sir there's quite a number of rocks up there.
Shut up and let me on the slope!
Um, the slope's not got much snow on it sir.
I see. let me ask you this. Is there, in actuality, any snow on it whatsoever?
Ahhh. No sir. None at all. I was deliberately putting you on.
Having said that, Danno's comment about buying stock in Wintersteiger is likely spot on. Since I'll be on the damn thing to snap photos and all.
Seriously though it's pretty rough right now. And Ptex doesn't fix bones. I came around a corner kind of hot yesterday, saw rocks to the right so I jump turned left into the trees (trees are holding snow better) which turned out to also be right onto a piece of granite. The edge hold wasn't awesome on the granite. The body hold on the tree that was just below the granite was pretty good though. Good fun.
I don't have 20 pairs of skis. I have one every day ski, and 2 skis I rarely use but could in a pinch.
Still, I totally agree with adrenelated. I do not go out of my way to hit rocks, and actively try to avoid them. And if something is just all rocks, I may not ski it again because it might not be fun (I ski to have my skis slide on snow, and skis definitely do not do that on rocks). That said, if something fun has some rocks and I hit them, don't give a fuck. All skis are rock skis.
Gratz getting everyone all frothing at the mouth for Thursday-Saturday. Shitshow coming.
Hype, hype, hype! The Front Range masses are fueling up their transport-to-ecstasy machines in preparation of channeling the highest level of 'zen-state' I70 travel. They cannot and WILL NOT be denied their dream of riding 2 feet of flat pow in the Vail back bowls. Make no mistake, some dreams WILL BE crushed in the upcoming days. ;)
I have a weekend in Steamboat planned; been on the books for months. While I am psyched they're getting snow this week, I fear the Friday evening drive.
I'm not afraid to go over Berthoud and skip the tunnel, if need be.
I knew it! The answer is, like always, "apply speed".
Low angle at Snowmass was good today. Have to go to Vegas Thursday-Sunday, so well get slammed.
If we get another 6-10” on Friday, it’ll be a shitshow just getting TO I-70. Then the real fun begins.
I completely take it all back. 3-4” of thick new snow totally changed the Butte. Skiing great today. Outstanding.
Just gotta ski real light here and there.
It takes so little to rekindle the love affair with this place. Not that it ever actually goes away. But I did say mean things yesterday. I was wrong. I’m sorry.
