Interesting conditions up there today. Rain-saturated down low, wind slabby and collapsing up high. Giant wet slide debris everywhere.
Really good skiing though! Skied ptarmigan to lower sluice. Everything is still so fat up there.
Time to escape to the desert, see yalls in a couple weeks
Random stuff from a couple weeks of touring around the neigborhood.

Did anybody ride today? What were the conditions like?
Nice page guys, interesting stuff. I had crazy ski dreams last night, does that count?
^^^ Were you up there early? I'm going to go up Ross tomorrow and I'm just trying to get my timing right. Thanks.
Is it time to pray for corn?
I'm calling corn tommorow from my armchair. Might wanna get out earlier than 11:30 though:wink:
thinking I might try and harvest some myself since it looks like it'll be cold-ish tonight again. 9:30 start did ok for you?
Up high it was still a little firm and punchy. We only went to the top of the Apron.
Heres a couple lines from the end of April when there was pow.
The first line is kinda technical/slow, so skip to 3:49 if your not feelin it.
Finally took advantage of no roads in avalanche gulch, lots more fun when there is no moguls.

thought that 1st one was the reverse line but not quite...
nice work on 2nd season shreddin, you're gittin yer hikin worth w/the techness, enjoyin the postseason plastered landscape up there looks like
Great video. It looks like you're really getting after it up there.
I watched some of the stuff in your Vimeo archive. That line on Ross is sick! I can't imagine having to make the jump turn into that slot, alone. Well done.
Looks like we might get one more day before the rains. See you up there, enjoy the corn.
Thanks for sharing the video. Very nice!
Big slide on the west side, truman gulch

Slid all the way to the ground.

You can see bare ground, and slide debris in the flats.
I guess we won't be riding bike up that fork until July now.
I was up Middle Cottonwood yesterday, had a fun little adventure. Huge slide off the north shoulder of Baldy. All the way to the ground, pretty much the entire face plus some side gullies. The debris flowed through the creek at the bottom, looked like it widened the slide path significantly. It was cool to see how it deflected off one side of the slide path then would ride up on the other.
Those lines off Bridger Peak were looking prime last weekend, but are all done now. I wonder when all these slides happened? Maybe during the rains this weekend?
Middle Cottonwood is still not close to ready for biking. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to hit it just right, ski SW face Saddle in perfect corn, then shred singletrack to the parking lot. Maybe in 2 weeks?
Get a chance to take any photos?
It would be really sweet to see pictures. How far up the canyon is that?
Didn't have the camera. Got it on helmet cam but I still haven't figured out how to post decent quality video. I have to throw down for an editing program at some point in the near future. There is a decent view about a mile and a 1/2 up the canyon of the slide, but you do have to ford the creek to get there. It's pretty high but manageable. I just cross in the mini hydraulics where there is no current. I got a real good view of it after hiking up on to some of those side ridges above the canyon.
Remember pnut, the waterfalls have to be frozen for you to ski them.

We aren't ever going to progress the sport with an attitude like that:)
Looking like some colder temps and snow followed by maybe bluebird & colder on Monday. Blackmore could be sick Monday morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
