Anybody at Alpine tomorrow?
Anybody at Alpine tomorrow?
Doesn't even take snow.
Westbound 88, just west of Kirkwood, closed this AM for a rollover.

^^ Same thing happened on 80 west bound yesterday near Colfax. WTF? Is driving getting more difficult for people? I don't get it. Bring on the self driving cars. Actually, drove my friend's Tesla X several weeks back and tried the automated driving function and it's kind of a scary adjustment. I bitched out and grabbed the wheel a few times, especially on a curve against oncoming traffic.
Also, selling some boots and bindings if anyone is interested: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...dians-Trackers
Good shit.
Can the Kirkwood tuning center / rental shop do binding mounts? Anybody know? I specifically didn't bring my boots down from the valley last week to get my powder skis mounted in the city, which is obviously why it's going to snow.
They can. Or used to be able to. I've had 2 out of 2 fucked up there between 8-10 years ago. The first pair was off by a little over a half cm. Not a huge deal. The second one was off by 3.5 cm. I never went back.
Just heard good report of Pallisades & D7 actually.
There was a nice band middle of Saddle/Yellow but getting to it not much fun, and runout kinda...meh...
We both wear FullFace. Bright clothes. On Chams tomorrow.
Will pm digits, but we usually get out late is all.
"Anybody at Alpine tomorrow?
Yeah should be.
The groomers ruled today (well, this afternoon I guess).
Found patches of nice-ness here & there, but mostly a pain skiing off-trail."
based on todays SW wind and ski testing, inquiring minds may want to look at:
Palisades (all), High Yellow, Our Father, Counterweight Gully, N. Peril, D 6-7.
windy- yah, but grins plenty. Doesn't seem heavy on weekenders based on traffic- enjoy.
Not to be a smart ass, but there is this thread called something like "mount your own fucking skis". Read it, do it. No way do I take my skis to a shop except for the occasional base grind.
And Powdork, great video. I liked your poopy pants comment. I thought that was just me.
^^ I do the same as far as pushing myself more when I'm alone. The last thing I want to do is hike up to somewhere like Granite Peak or the Palisades and have a friend waiting around while I decide if I'm going to bitch out or not. Although typically it happens more at the resort and I'm pretty conservative when solo in the backcountry, but to each his own. I'm sure if I spent as many days in the BC as Powdork my perspective would change too.
Thanks for the heads up. But my flat skis and bindings are in SF and my boots are at my cabin in KW, which means I needed them mounted away from my workshop overnight in the valley before Sunday.
...Which is why I was asking about shops in the first place.

I've got to defend my kook honor
Isnt titebond kooky?
Wow look at all the fancy stuff, calipers and all. I set my skis on the pool table, close one eye, and say a little prayer to ullr.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8600774829.jpg
Hell, just closing one eye now tells me the heel piece on the ski on the right in your picture is off a little bit (although things out at the edge of pictures can be distorted like that)
Old holes!! Can blame LeavenworthSkier for that. I did managed to eff up the toe piece on this pair
With the Spur closed this morning at 5am...its a Telluride trip photo edit and video game day in the city by the Bay.
In any case, here's some stoke from Telluride just over a week ago:

^^^ seemed a bit more mellow than many of your contributions
glancing through the webcams along i-80, it doesn't even look like caltrans is even trying....
