Anyone have any insight or knowledge about SR 89's closure? Would it be realistic for it to open tomorrow morning?
Scruffy Skittles. Lol. Like the skittles that fall out of the bag and under the driver seat, through heat and cold, only to be found a year later?
Interesting snow report on AM website--new format. Interesting what's "groomed"--a whole lot of stuff including Idiot's, Buttress, Grouse Rocks. Should be interesting when the tourists go looking for those "groomed" runs. Yesterday I ran into a couple of older (as in older than me, which is pretty old) guys very slowly walking back from high t to summit on the backside traverse.
had 2 different conversations w/ people yesterday about how the last couple times any of us had hitchhiked w skis, we have only been picked up by european tourists. all the americans seem to be too busy to stop for 2 min's to help someone out. even had some friends blow by only to stop and turn around because they recognized me. wtf?????
I guess that is better than having someone stop, then recognize you and speed off.
I generally stop if I have room, if for no other reason than to get a little beta.
I'd pick you up...
...ok, maybe not
Windy up high already... Wife just got back from some morning turns and says the snow is nice and firm above 8k and soft around 7k. Bring on the worst you can mother nature
Gimpy, maybe you should try getting a haircut you freaking hippie
Will be at KW Wed/Thurs on the new Bro Kusala if any mags want to borrow them. 7800 a good place to buy me a Racer 5 and grab them 12-1. Think Splat's gonna be around as well, may let him try as well. Will only cost him a Coors.
but i'm in oootah. i'll send you a mental nacho kusala!
Yea, I know mountain biking is the last thing on your minds right now but before you know it, it'll be here.
Corral trail grant can use your vote for 30 NEW JUMPS AND FEATURES!
Quote:
Voting starts tomorrow March 5th on the Bell Facebook page to win the grant for Corral Trail. As a reminder over 100 applications were submitted from across the country for the Bell Built Grant and our application has been selected as one of the twelve finalists.
If we win this grant we'll get our share of $100,000 and have Trail Solutions (the same guys that built the Truckee Pump Track) come here to build over 30 jumps and features on Corral Trail.
Some people might ask "why Corral Trail" - the simple reason is that this trail has been a test project by the Forest Service on how to build and permit mountain bike specific features on public Forest Land. These efforts go back 8 years now and have had countless riders give input. Once all the planned features are built on Corral Trail we can take that example elsewhere, like rebuilding the Stinger at Kingsbury. Also, the grant is for projects that have approved plans and are shovel-ready, meaning they can start building this spring.
This is a very exciting partnership for Tahoe, and potentially the entire Country. To have a model trail here in Tahoe is something to brag about, please support TAMBA's efforts and vote for Corral!

for the record, the other two folks i talked to are pretty clean-cut looking. we have fucking skis and packs at the bottom of an obvious bc run. and all have been rolling solo. if you have a little sedan, its understandable. but truck after truck w/ one person blows by. i have a truck and i always stop, even if the cab is full. whatever.....'mericans are set in their ways. here's to hoping the euro weather model pans out and the 'merican model is wrong.
I've given a few ski-hikers rides up to Squaw from around 711 this year. Does that make me stupid or just not overly paranoid? I figure carrying expensive skis and gear while standing around in heavy snow is kind of a long con for a simple car-jacking.
New Kusala's?
Man I think I've only rode my Lhassa's a couple of times this season so far
The forecast for the winds up high doesn't seem too nice.
AND:Quote:
55-60 mph with gusts to 95 mph decreasing to 45-50 mph with gusts to 75 mph in the afternoon

Any weather mags care to weigh in on the wide range of forecasts out there? Guesses at storm totals?
