A range extender is in play but initial emissions tests have even been problematic with it.

Sexy lines, too.
New GT3 RS?
New GT2? (Did I hear you say they were bringing that one back?)
there must have been some type of Ferrari meet-up in town yesterday as there were a few dozen tooling around and parked on our main street. 488s, 458s, a gorgeous 512TR, Californias .... if there is one thing Ferrari does well it's tune the sound of their engines/exhausts ... I'm more a Porsche geek, but jesus ....
sound reminds me of the late 4th gen cobras….. whipple whine all day
probably my favorite gen mustang

Completely agree with the sound. Growing up for a few years in Michigan we got to hear a lot of those bad boys from a couple Ford big wigs in the neighborhood bringing home their new toys. (My dad was persona non grata for the krautmobiles in the drive but won them back when he got a full size conversion van for our southerly trips - but that's another story)
More importantly... that's your favorite body style Mustang? Look, I'm not knocking it at all, I'm just surprised. You just never hear anyone say that's their favorite body style. I get it though, I'm a fan of lesser-liked cars - see: Porsche 996s and the 914, not to mention lots of Japanese stuff. Just interesting is all.
Well I do like Trans Ams too, so there is definitely something wrong with me…
The 6th gens are sharp for sure and are a close second. I don't know what it is about the demographic buying new stangs but I don't see build ones like I used to. Seems like there was a shift to the old dentists that used to (still) drive C5 Corvettes.
Seeing the stock exhaust on a C5 just screams "I drive this like a mini van"

Ha! That does seem undersized on further inspection.
Good on ya.
Same for Mazderati, the world needs Mopar fans too.
;)
Speaking of sexy coupes, did I miss a mention of the new 8 series? I always loved the 90s 8s - proper GT cars. The latest have just the right amount of Italian styling; I even see a little Lambo in the rear end. I hope the production version stays true to these concepts. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3992dea767.jpg

I thought that was the car?
I gotta say, I'm a BM fanboy with the lot of em, but their design/quality/feel/Idon'tknow is branching into an area that is so far removed from the old days of the Ultimate Driving Machine. The design is too edgy, making me even look wistfully on the Bangle era. They feel too computerized and overly complicated. They continue to become completely unrelatable to me.
The last 5 series, the F10/11 was the best any car from BMW has looked since the E39. The new one is garbage.
Same fot the 3. The E90 was fantastic. The following F30 is no where near the fantastic drivers car that it has been.
I don't know what they're chasing but it's not what it used to be. Which is sad, because I love em.
I get it, the rear on that car looks/looked great. The front in my opinion, not so much.
SVTs tend to pack a nice punch. That one looks to have a proper setup.
I concur with bmills Bmw assessment. I had a loaner 330? Can't remember, and it had sport package, etc, and it was... Nice, but I like my e34. I really liked my old e30, and can't wait to get the little convertible on the road. I had two e46, and thought they both were great cars. My dad's e91 wagon is OK, and my wife's e61 wagon is very nice, but not to engaging. The e34 though... With the v8, so niiiiiiiice...
I drove a cobra like that once. My uncle used to have one, and even with the low miles, in my humble opinion, it felt like a cheap piece of crap.
^^ FWD = blah
Even as a die hard ac 911 fan, I can't think of a car that has lost its appeal so steadily, and for so long, as the post-Gen 5 Honda Civic. Stylistically every revision from '72-94 was an improvement, and every one since has gotten progressively worse . I'm sure it's fun to drive... But goddamn... what a stupid looking car.

About a 2 yrs ago ago, I was dining at French Laundry with Honda's lead designer Masaki Kobayashi and George Lucas. The topic of automotive design integrating with space a la 1950's was being discussed. George asked Mr. Kobayashi if he could design a futuristic vehicle that would embrace George's visions for space travel. It would have aggressive lines, and not the "used bar of soap" styling dictated by the wind tunnel and found in existing vehicles such as the VW R hatch and others. This is the product of such thinking and that dinner meeting; an embrace of the Far East with the future of space travel. When dinner was over George asked Mr. Kobayashi if he was afraid the American public would not like it? To which Mr. Kobayashi said in broken English, "If they don't rike it, they can kiss my rellow ass."
Wow, to have been a fly on the wall for that. Hopefully Chef Keller didn't force that bourgeois chicken dish of his on your party.
The '99 and '00 Civic Si was a great looking car but, yeah, the design largely fell flat after the fifth generation. I feel like the early to mid '00s was big turning point in car design across all the brands and much prefer cars from the '90s and early to mid '00s over just about anything new. But it's difficult to tell if newer designs are, in fact, less attractive of if I'm just heading toward old fuckdom and prefer cars from back in the good ol' days.
ITR expo from years back. Make Honda great again.

Nostalgia is a bitch... Or at least that ex-girlfriend I remember so fondly probably still is... I can't say how much of my new appreciation for older designs is based on a fond memory vs. my own changing tastes... I do know that I have nothing against new cars in general. The miata is a great example of a car that looked good to begin with, had a misstep in Gen 2, and has since looked better with every new iteration. There's no way I'd take a Gen 1 over a new one. And if Porsche would fucking call the 991 a 991 already, and they started making a smaller, lighter, rowdier, less technology driven 911 again, I'd almost certainly have one. Something along the lines of a Singer, minus all the fancy shit.. It's the main thing that's kept me out of another 911.. I love the old cars, but there is nothing that excites me about the prospect of owning and maintaining an old sports car. You could put a stock output motor and stock trans in it, slap on some BBS wheels, normal level trim, put the fucking gas cap back where it belongs, give it a 3/36-5/60, and I'd gladly fork over $100k for it. I might even be able to tolerate a radiator.
