I hope your spidy senses are true! Every year around this time of the season I am reminded how quickly and adversely conditions can change. Sure the late February through mid March period does occasionally bring a nice big dump but it is often followed by a warm up/liquid or a crust event like we just had that was not in anyone's forecast this far north. At most it was supposed to be a slight mix event after 5"-7" overnight then back to wrap around snow. No complaints as we have had a pretty incredible stretch in the last 3-4 weeks with numerous nickel events where it matters that didn't leave a trace in town or make the nightly weather report as any more than "moutain flurries" thus, keeping the crowds from swarming. I am just pissed at myself for not motivating Tuesday because the forecast didn't pan out as expected, rookie move! This few hours of unexpected warmth followed by a flash refreeze put a hopefully, temporary halt to what otherwise was a damn near perfect (albeit still somewhat below average) snowpack.
Really dead around here, 40% of bravo chairs empty and another 35% with one skier, from the bottom of Spillsville up, HG only had 5 chairs with a skier in it.
It will be refreshed enough by Saturday to get out for some reconnoissance touring at the minimum. #lemonade

Did BMOM woods get the Tuesday crust? Did the Loaf? Did any place escape it?
Was a cold but gorgeous day out there yesterday. Sunny ski days are hard to beat despite the snowpack wearing a loose hard hat. Still plenty of great turns were found. I am feeling a bit spoiled of late. Yesterday was all and all really good just nearly AS good as it’s been over the last month or so. Things could be a LOT worse out there and won’t take much to bounce back. Good sliding with ya, FD.
me too. hoping for a 2015-like march and april - not a ton of new snow but a long stretch that didn't see temps above freezing in the mtns.
yea you folks up north had a nice stretch. hopefully just a bump in a snowy road ahead!
we have a bit of snow due in the taconics so hoping the holiday crowds are burnt out as they are at the bush and will leave some for the saturday night crowd
heh! and to add to the daffy stoke, some big air from the black line thing at magic many years back. bad snow year the comp was held on an icy patch of the intended course. serious scoping of landing goin' on there!

Looks like NYC is stealing our snow again. Maybe we can get a Nihiles appearance with some of his latest first descents of powerlines of the tri-state. Belated PTT for the southern track:
Yeah, snowing like a MOFO here in central Jersey. 4" on the ground so far.
i considered a return to my high school era friday nite haunt (the former vernon valley-great gorge but they charge $89 for tix.
that would be like paying $89 for jiminy surrounded by a weekend crowd at hunter and a holiday crowd at killington all at once. no thanks:fm:
Ha, yeah i did the VV/GG intro to ice skating (skiing) thing back in the late 70s. They have a triple play card i believe that is probably much more reasonable.
Just started snowing in SoVT. It’s way better than I thought it would be. Sugar on ice, but very skiable.

Always a good day with you and T, I need to be on my on my toes to keep you both in sight. That bridge crossing was my wake up call [emoji849]!
Hope so man. Not looking likely to see you up here but maybe a day on the beach in May if the SS glacier makes it that long. I was just looking at the weekend and beyond prospects, models are definitely not in agreement but the possibility for a decent refresh down your way is there so hopefully, it pans out.
Looks like a muddy outcome if the landing was off there.
^^ cool bear
nailed the landing but had no edges do slid out coming in hot a few turns later.
yea just read josh fox's current post. not terribly encouraging but the man has been wrong before.
2007 looked over and done before st. paddy's and then delivered. 2018 was in a state of doom - platts was long brown but for the man made - and then march 1 delivered 54" in one day to the catskills.
so with the risk of losing winter may come the reward of a special
storm or two.
and yea i do hold out hope for Q-free day travel to VT by may, and some days on the beach and in the bumps.
i REALLY hope so after these nearly 2-years without.
Skied Saddleback today based on the light wind and moderate temperature forecast. Can confirm crust on all the untracked up here in Maine. Was pleasantly surprised with the ungroomed trails and glades in the resort however, they had just enough skier traffic to break up the crust and make a nice surface somewhere between chalk and sugar. Monsters gobbled it up quite nicely actually. Even saw Someday Bigger and the New Hampshire rock pile from the summit. As the saying goes, skiing is fun!
^^ nice pics. looks fun indeed.
Sweet ^^ skiing looks good up north.
Tons of people loading pods and shipping out today. As quiet as a non pow non covid mid January midweek day out there today.
didn't even fill the upper lots.
And it's coming norbeaster-spring-pass
VV/GG - Mtn Creek triple play early season was 105$... currently at 170.
Intermittent bands dropping inconsistent ball bearings making sugar on hardback and the crust alike. Not bonding and the temperature is in an unfriendly zone with dead calm. If it grabs it'll be fun tomorrow.
Day and time can ease the wait... from ski-on to 10/12min... or you can catch the clusterphuq.

Lazy/no show embedded workforce. Toss in a dysfunctional management and they can build this in a flash.
The good news;
Rabid elders say this place hasn't been above the snow line in years.
Surprising low count of crusty hooligans. They must be on the way back from VT and in to quarantine I'm sure.

Ugh. That’s a cluster fuck ...
Oh vv gg you cruel mistress...
Is it true pipeline doesn’t exist anymore gepeto?
Nice pic bucket! Look like you’re jumping into the chair!
I’ve got an alternative for you that’s a little closer.
Thinking pkill next Friday if you’re around...
^^^VV/GG alums who haven't seen this, happy Thursday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqg48h_uKYM
Coincidentally got the lowdown on Pipeline today while determining if I wanted to duck the rope.
It is my understanding it has been closed since this incident:
https://www.njherald.com/article/201...NEWS/909028643
...a Jeep overturned an estimated 20 times while tumbling 500 feet on the steepest of Mountain Creek’s 42 ski trails...
Wtf, wow.
Jersey alps baby, they can bite back.
Class action park ! Ha
That’s fucking great biggins!
I will tell you what that place was a total free for all.
Sent from my iPhone using TGR Forums
^^ that pic of the jeep is like the old TIMEXcommercials....looks like no more than 10 tumbles to me.:fmicon:
dang! pipeline's a...
fkg GAS pipeline!?! :eek:what could go wrong?
(i thought it might be a rebranded kamikaze or zero G.)
well hunter has trails named after expressways. fitting for mt creek to nod to the state's petrochemical roots.
and holy shite higgins, can't wait to watch that vid!
saw one years back about strange people squatting in the old playboy lodge. not quite the shining but weird stuff in thar!
damn gepeto that lift scene would make hunter blush.
hope you at least get some dust AND crust! but cool to see the old lodge is still there. i remember hot older chikas in furry moon boots on those walkways and in the bar back in the day! and smoking tiparillo's on the lift lines to look...more mature:cool:
Aldo :will see what i can do and pm you...
