What have you bought/upgraded today.

Been building my daughter a frame up Trailcraft over past few weeks. Hopefully didn’t jump the gun on sizing going w the 27.5 as it’s a bit bigger than I hoped. Black w purple trim though didn’t go nuts getting all the purples to match perfectly. Ordered her a better Cleary crankset, but they went out of business before shipping (did keep my $$ annoyingly). Still waiting on some XT brakes and figure out a short ~70mm dropper, probably one up.

They kept your money? Can you do a chargeback?

Cleary did keep my money even after I emailed them a bunch w no response. Frustratingly their web store appears to still be open with discount prices, but they have a banner that says they’re closed. That was put up after I ordered.

I am going to dispute the charge as it’s been several weeks.

Wanted to get some Hope cranks, but already running over my initial budget so these Goldix will have to do for a while. She’s very lightweight and not particularly sendy so don’t expect any issues as they look pretty well constructed.

Pulled off some old 2pot XTRs from my old Ti Lynskey SS only to find the uncut hoses aren’t nearly long enough. Decided not to mess w swapping hoses on 10yr brakes, even good ones and snagged some OE XTs from eBay store.

Hopefully get it rolling this weekend w some temporary brakes from another bike.

Fun little project and she’s been “helping” a bit, or at least learning a bit about how bikes work and their parts.

My $0.02, which is probably with about half that:
Though I appreciate the price point and the short insertion length, I don’t think OneUp is great for smaller people. Requires more psi to break through its own stiction, meaning it takes more to get it down. Essentially unnoticed by most riders. I try to keep the psi as low as possible for wife, but it’s a fine line before it doesn’t like to pop up on its own.
It’s also got more lever resistance than other posts. Again with wife, we burned through a lot of levers before she settled on the Wolftooth Light Action. Still nowhere near as easy for her to actuate than the Revive and LEV on her other bikes. This is another thing most dudes don’t notice, but smaller weaker hands do.
But yea, just my unsolicited thoughts.

V3 addresses almost all of those problems, and is lighter. But you give up the air valve for their cartridge, so she would have to try one first, I guess.

Interesting she’s on a v2 now w WolfTooth light action lever and don’t think she’s had problems. Friend of mine said his son had a horrible time w a OneUp though. Going to borrow a fox transfer SL 70mm from a friend to see how that fits.

FWIW the updated collar/seal/bushing for the V2 comes with the rebuild kit for $20 and it's night and day in terms of stiction. Makes for MUCH lighter action on the up and down, could prolly reduce pressure by quite a bit. It's prolly the V3 collar assembly.

I hear ya on the lever action though. The Lady and I both run the Wolftooth light action lever but even for me it's difficult to actuate sometimes at the bottom of long hard run.

I still love the posts for being low stack, generally reliable, affordable, easy to work on, and get parts for.

Complete and got a shakedown ride in. Little cable clean up left. Borrowing a Fox Transfer SL 75mm to see how that fits, w the WolfTooth Light action lever super easy up/down.

27.5 crests, 11spd XTR drivetrain, XTR brakes, Reba RL @120mm, Trailcraft Maxwell 27.5 @120mm, Goldix 150mm crank and purple werks 30t chainring, Spank split 33mm stem, 685mm salsa carbon bars, spec ti phenom saddle, crank bros stamp pedals. 22-23lbs

I brought this Esker Smokey frame(160mm hardtail) into the shop when it launched earlier this year, but didn’t have any bites on it all season.
Yesterday, the shop was slow in the evening so we decided to build it up with a bunch of stuff that has accumulated in my parts bins over the last few years as bikes/builds came and went.
Turned out pretty sweet. Took it on the maiden voyage this afternoon and I’m fucking stoked. Super fun.

It is funny how synonymous Yeti is with being a dentists bike. Wonder where the hell that came from, but it sure had stuck.

Prolly because they cost like a million dollars. I was able to snag a demo for pretty cheap

These days, they are basically right in there with every other top tier bike, imo.

Like watches, cars, wives; certain brands rely heavily on status symbol status despite numerous equivalent and superior options for the more discerning consumer in the know. Ever pay attention to The Wives of Rampage? Definitely going for a specific brand, those boys.

Yeah I couldn’t justify paying an extra premium for one when so many good bikes are so cheap right now, but got a great deal so it made sense. Plus I demoed one and absolutely loved it. Been on a Rascal for almost 5 years and wanted basically the same bike with slightly more travel and a slightly steeper STA

Finally bit the buller and ditched the Magicshine knockoffs for some real lights.

Outbound Lightings Portal and Trail Evo kit.

It'll be nice not to have to worry about battery life for a while.
