Got done a day early on my Kirkwood project. Took 4 of us 3 days to stain the exterior of this little log cabin.

Rode up and down the mountain on some trail or another after we buttoned up this afternoon.
Good times.
Donner Lake Ski Tune back in business sept 15. Same location.
What--there's now two Farmer's Almanacs? And I still can't figure out which is the real phone book (not that it matters; they all go into the blue bag.)
Heavenly got a dusting of snow yesterday

You mean little frozen ice balls?
Isn't it time for a new thread? September next week. RaccoonFace hasn't posted much in years, really, but he needs to be roused.
Meh, it's always been early. Worked fine in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. Positive thoughts. :)
Fuck you people are children.
Nope. I just find the thread jinx bullshit totally juvenile. Yeah, the weather will totally be affected when some assbag starts a winter thread "too early". Dumb children.
Some kids on your lawn today or something?
It's not like anyone actually believes in a thread jinx, just bullshitting. Take a valium.
When the world was flat as a pancake Mona Lisa was happy as a clam.
And besides, I don't even have a lawn. You can call home and ask my wife.
(Reasonably unobscure musical references that you kids might not understand.)
telemike = old hipster who takes joking about ski superstition on the internet too seriously
"What're you listening to?" "Oh, just some band. You've probably never heard of them. Also, El Nino doesn't mean shit!!! :cussing:"
;)
Snow in August is like getting your virginity back. It's really cool and gets you stoked to do it all over again.
I think the time to start the new thread is now: kids are back in school, people everywhere are noticing the shorter days and lower sun angle and colder nights. The sales are about to happen. Movie premiers will be coming up really soon and we'd all love to share rides to, beers at, and reviews of them. I don't know what business waits for customers to walk through the door and start buying stuff before putting up signs and a website.
As for jinxing the weather? Nobody knows. The farmers don't know. The acorns and sugar pines don't know. Your bum knee doesn't know. The best scientists in the world can't figure it out. I gaurantee someone somewhere is doing something to jinx the winter. The best we can do is set ourselves up with high positivity so that we can enjoy the season -whatever it brings.
As a Norf Shore local is fond of saying: "This winter is going to be like no other."
Speaking of movies, did anyone notice that J Jones' Deeperthroat is available for free right now until the end of the month? I'm flying solo this week and feel like watching it for some stoke. Anyone want to come join me tonight, tomorrow or Thursday night? I'm in Kings Beach.
Meh...none of that seems a good reason to start Next Season's Thread, imho.
Not very exciting, really.
(You could start a Movie Premiere Thread though).
Something of note would be good to start with...a surprise dump, resort closing down, big star coming to Tahoe, Wild fire taking out resort or opening new terrain, that kinda thing???
IN OTHER NEWS:
Nice to see Susan from Wildflower at Squaw featured in the Ski Bum section of the new POWDER. She is a treasure.
Introduced us to Smoothie & Garbage Chute, when she gave us the tour, back in the day (And they sell good coffee!)
On the snow jinx note... I was fine with just my Squawlpine pass, but today pulled the trigger on the Epic Tahoe local pass in addition... because if early season is shitty (again), Northstar is so much better than just skiing icy Red Dog laps. Or for windy days. Consider it a reverse jinx. But the other motivation is to meet up with some of you to show me around Kirkwood properly, if willing. I like the mountain a lot the handful of times I've been there but would like to get to know it better.
Skied a four foot base at KW in October two months short of a decade ago today. That'd be nice to have again.
