They were my old behind the house skis and are well and truely destroyed. Plus did you not notice what kind of bindings they have on them? I only got boots this spring.

Well if I'd been feeling a bit richer a month or two ago when the Spats were up for auction on eBay, I would have a pair of them too. Fierce devotion? Not really, I do love the way they ski, super stable and damp, flexible but torsionally rigid, forgiving and smooth as silk, able to blast through all manner of crud and crust. They are great skis. I think that's why McConkey wanted them as his sponser. Doubtless there were other companies that would have been more lucritive.Quote:

That's why around 90% of the people who have bought Volants have bought another pair.
where'd you get that stat?Quote:

What did you get? Some people say that they are so damp that they don't get the feedback from the hill they like, for me I just want to feel like I'm riding on velvet.Quote:

Hey, that's a good one. I've heard that the early Volants (early '90s), before the ZMax, were refered to as "slugs on vallium".Quote:

If you look closely you can see some Volkl P-9s and two pair of the yellow Volkl P-4s(?) alongh with the vintage Dynastars.
I'm looking closely and I'm also seeing what looks like some vintage Atomic Red Sleds and also some Kastle skis. I'm guessing that you feel the need, the need for speed and stability.Quote:

The Nov 2005 collection:
(Straight skis, XC skis, and skis trashed beyond any hope of ever being skied again (though the G41s might be most useful for skiing directly on rocks), etc. not included.) Skis on the left are mine, skis on the right are Mr. AG's.

As if not enough to totally outdo everyone one time on this thread, AG is now posting monthly updates of her absolutely epic quiver...my hats off to you, madam.:D
The last time we posted a quiver pic was 2 seasons ago.Quote:

Damn! The new Bros arrived?!? Still waiting patiently for mine.
:frown:
I don't see powdercords on those Spats :biggrin:Quote:

AG - have you tried the Gots yet? Its a funny mix, the Gots and the Phat Luvs both under the same skier. Do you like the k2s? Thinking about them for my wife.
Yeah- I demoed the 183 Gotamas a while back at Snowbasin on a non-pow day and they were manageable and occasionally really fun (when I could find something soft to ski in for a turn or two) despite being completely the wrong ski for the conditions. I think they'll be a blast when conditions are good though. I'm thinking I'm going to put AT bindings on them. Anyway - I skied G4's/G41's for a few years - I don't think the Gotamas will be such a leap.Quote:

They were perfect for today since it wasn't worth leaving the groomers.
