I know. The problem was that I didn't have access to a printer at that time. Anyhow, got a buddy of mine to print it yesterday. They overlap, dukes - fks don't. Problem solved

Hey, just thought I would mention. I checked, double checked, and triple checked stuff. The template for the tyrolia/head bindings is off. The rearmost holes on the heel piece need to be about 1mm wider on the template. I didn't get an exact measurement, but it is not right. It made mounting a little more sketchy that usual.
Just used tje tyrolia template to remount my bibbys.
Only used the template for toe pieces and just measured the distance between old and new holes on the toes and drilled new heel holes the same distance forward. Worked perfect and I can't imagine 1mm making a percievable difference.
Anyway, it was way more fun than drilling holes and driving screws has any right to be.
Don't think a shop will drill a pair of my skis ever again.
Can confirm that the Marker Jester/Griffon template is spot on. Did a test mount, came out true.
Thanks for the effort Jondrums.
Bump for summer quiver upgrade investigations.
Should be a sticky!
thanks jon
Is there a seperate template for the (new last year) Frreride Pro? The template for the freeride seems to be a little short in the toe? My print scale seems to be set correctly
Freeride PRO is completely different from Freeride - both toe and heel.
Maybe Lou has some templates here - but do a test on a 2x4 first.

Thanks, that looks much better. My new Coombacks are anxiously waiting to be mounted.
Frank (or anyone)
I'd like to make up a FreeridePro paper template, but the wildsnow template does not seem to have any indication of mounting line location. Can anyone elaborate?
Ideally, I'd need an accurate distance from the rear-most holes of the toepiece and the mounting line, along with the BSL that it was mounted for.
Give me a bit to review what I did. It's been since dec. Some of that stuff is at home in the cave.
One thing I don't see on the WS is the 4th heel hole.
Maybe I'll dump the layout to a dxf for you? PM me an email.
That's the one I did. It was used 2x successfully to my knowledge.
Feel free to use/change it...

just used the fks and salomon. perfect. thanks!
Once again, Knut comes through!
I'll update the collection to include freeride-pro and eagle pretty soon
I took one of my 2010-2011 Griffon Schizos off the skis they're on and measured the hole placements.
It is suggested here that the schizos are the same as the Jesters just with an extra hole (C below) so hopefully that can give you some idea of my margin of error, which I think is <1mm. Just eyeballing it, the pattern on the Jester template looks correct, but I'll print the template and check it. My measurements were taken from the centre of the holes.
length-wise from tip to tail (REF = marked reference line, which is about 30-33mm back from boot centre):
A -> B = 32mm
B -> C = 56mm
C -> REF = 129mm
REF -> D = 101mm
D -> E = 80mm
width-wise:
A & B are 18mm from width-centre
C is on the width-centre-line
D & E are 16mm from width-centre
My BSL is 327mm.

Thanks for thread and templates. took the plunge and mounted my mantras with tyrolia railflex and daughters' maitais with Salomon Z12's.
image is of skis taken during a lunch stop somewhere in Hokkaido, Furano or Niseko.
i mounted the railflex plates +1.5 at the midsole line which allows me to move the bindings -3 behind the MSL. very handy in the deeper snow. a versatile setup.
A retroactive thank you for some great mounts with both the fks and tyrollia templates.
I was wondering if a dynafit radical template of jondrums style was in the works, I am much more comfortable than the radical template available on wildsnow. Thanks in advance for any info.
I've been meaning to make the radical template, so yes its in the works.
(note to self) todo list:
Fritschi freeride pro/eagle
add schizo hole to jester template
dynafit radical template
Just mounted a pair of 920s to my Ragnaroks. Worked out great, and is probably my best mount to date (I´ve done a few).
This thread is ten kinds of awesome, especially for this guy who is looking at the threaded inserts so I can run a set of alpine binders and maybe some dynafiddles later on ... Subscribed.
Hey Jon,
Is it possible to get these in a .dwg file? While stacking PDFs in my CAD program trying to find hole conflicts with different bindings, I realized it would be real nice with stacked CAD layers instead of opaque PDFs objects.
been using this to do the remounts on my chopsticks with tyrollia bindings and for mounting my new billy goats. these are awesome! definitely going to stick with mounting my own skis from here on out since the shop messed up the last 2 mounts that they did for me and never told me...
Terry, Adobe illustrator can save PDF files in DXF format, which is what I'd recommend.
I think you're trying to recreate THIS
I made the Schizo/Demo update to the Jester Template. I need someone to verify this one. FYI: Knut - my numbers don't match the dimensions on the template you uploaded. For example, I have 35mm x 30mm for the toe hole dimensions. I have no idea which is correct - can you comment on where you got your numbers and your confidence level in them?
I created the Freeride Pro/Eagle based on Knut's template. I am slightly skeptical of the heel hole locations because I had to move them back just a tiny bit from the freeride template, which is verified. So, someone needs to verify this one.
I also created the Dynafit Radical template, based on the popular demand for the holes to be 12.5mm ahead of the old front holes. Again, needs verification. Should be good to just check the toe-pieces on a printed out template (check holes and pin-line).
My confidence level is mid-high. I didn't mount them myself, but a reliable friend and engineer did. Normally, he's rather picky and reported it to be fine. Measured myself from a scan, but I never had the bindings in my hands nor seen the successful mount. But the hole width should be identical to the duke, where I also got 36mm (and I think your template was comparable, am I right?).
But I'll get some Demos to mount by the end of the week and I'll let you know.
Again, didn't mount Eagles's/Pro's myself, but had reliable, positive feedback. Heel hole location is identical with my FR/FR+ template, which I used several times myself and was spot on.
What's a tiny bit? Regarding the heel piece-bridge interplay of the binding, there's of course room for interpretation/variation and I might never realise a tiny bit.
Looks to be a tad short (somewhere between 0.5 and 1.0 mm) to my eye using toe plate of a Radical ST - suggests to me more like 13.0/13.25mm ahead of old holes.
I will caveat saying my printout scale is 0.5 mm short along the 20cm scale.
Anyone else got a pair to check??
Still no sticky!? This is the most useful thread in Tech Talk, pin it to the top already.
Jondrums, I appreciate all the effort that you have put into these templates. Used them many times with great success.
Wondering where I could track down a Dynafit TLT Vertical Race Ti Binding template? Picked up a pair for next to nothing at a ski swap and need the mount to be dead on because there is no adjustment fore and aft on the heel as you know.
Any help or suggestions would be great.
Pault- I believe the accepted method for fixed heel dynafits is to mount the toe using a template first. Then, install your boot to mark and mount the heel pieces in the exact spot.
I tend to agree with this reasoning - my guess is that whoever measured/verified the Jester template wasn't as careful as you are.
I'm going to go with 13.25 instead of 12.5 because that's exactly half of the old spacing (which would actually fit correctly with their ski insert spacing)
hey dcpnz -
I updated the radical template, can you check it again?
Subscribing to find this later in the month when I drill some skis.
Your template (very minor tilt in it -sorry, tried to align to top left screw)
Attachment 103137
mine
Attachment 103136
The four front screws on mine are spot on, but the 5th for Demo/Schizo looks better with your 55mm than with my 54mm.
Heel unit is identical and spot on for both.
Additionally, you have the toe edge some 12.5mm in front of the 2nd line of screws (instead of my 10mm), which looks a little better. And the heel unit is some 2mm more backwards, which also looks a bit better. Resulting in ~2mm set back of your mounting point to mine, BSL rather unchanged.
But that's just measuring the putative toe/heel edge distance to the screw holes on the binding. which is never 100% accurate.
It's not much and for normal bindings not really an issue. I'll have to figure out, what it means for the demos, though.
I will let you know, as soon as I really mounted them
Jon - I should have some Radicals en route to my place sometime in the next couple weeks. You're more than welcome to play around with them to verify template once they arrive (if Salewa ever get around to shipping the damn things - I ordered them on 10/28).
I wanted to say, that the placement on your template of the hole groups for toe piece and heel piece looks a little better to obtain an accurate mid-sole position.
For the toe piece, the rear two holes are probably at the right spot, so if you increase the hole pair distance to 31mm, move the front holes.
Again, I'll give you more detailed feedback, when I mounted them (probably somewhen this weekend)
Edit: Mounted them. Using my template. Holes and BSL was spot on. I adjusted the demos to my BSL, put the boot in and the forward pressure was exactly right. Mid-sole mark might be 1-2mm set back, as guessed before. But for that, honestly, I don't give a shit. :D
I was so confident, that I drilled the second ski directly for inserts. Worked out fine.
