a few from today with the new 50mm prime. Still getting used to it, but I'm stunned at how shallow you can get the depth of field (check out the flower shot)

hey CSW....is that Mt Washington from Ellinor?
How much snow is still up there? Love the trail shot, BTW
Another Santa Barbara fire...
This image shows the mountian view from my house. As you can see, it looks like another perfect day in Montecito.

If you look closer you will see orange highlights on the bark of that tree....from the wild fire buring in SB.
A view from Montecito when the fire entered the Cold Springs drainage:

For those wondering, it's a photo of a lit lightbulb taken directly underneath with flash.
Yep, and thanks! There's a ton of snow still up there. I'd estimate at least two feet fell during the storm last week. The chutes are as filled in as I've ever seen them. Snow begins down in the tree line, maybe 100-200 feet below the first chute. The road is still covered with a lot of snow above the lower trailhead also.

I found the biggest patch of shade to be inside of a bush and there was a gap facing right towards Karl Karlstrom, who was the head honcho of our rafting/geology trip.

Yeah, you can see the anchor (circled). 300 ft. of overhanging fun down to Emerald Pools.

Hop, the route in that shot is Caffeine Free 5.10a. You ever get to hit that?

Doesn't ring a bell, but it does bring back the memories of the FKNA rope swing that you can set up from that big block that you were probably standing on when you took the picture. I have similar shots on BW film looking down-gully of my friends climbing Vomit Launch and Chicken McNuggets.
First time using a dslr, still trying to figure things out. Suggestions are welcome.

Big Blue... damn, that's a pretty bad ass rappel. I didn't notice the anchor, bummer I didn't see anyone using it.

Yeah, the view from up there is a little different than it is from down below. Nice picture by the way. Here's the view from up top (not my picture):

I think the end of Heaps is 2 big rappels, something like 450' down. The last rap is 90m and requires passing knots while dangling far above the lake. I hear most parties carry 2 60m ropes and stash the 3rd at the bottom. Rad photos.
Three raps actually. There's a 50 ft. rap down steep rock to the top of the vertical face, then a 150 ft. rap down to the top of the overhang. From there it's 300 ft. down to the bottom. As far as rope goes it's a lot easier to just use a 300 ft. rope. Some people will stash rope at the bottom, but sometimes ropes get stolen from down there, so not the best plan. We just carried two 300 ft. ropes. Of course we're using 8mm spectra cord so it's not that heavy. Tell you what, hanging 300 ft. off the deck on a single strand of 8mm cord is an interesting feeling.:)
I got yer flowers right here...
