Yeah I grabbed those pics from skitalk, which has a great thread on Zipfits. It’s always fun to see for yourself.
Maybe worth noting that the only way to remove cork is through the top area, the cork tube won’t fit anywhere else. For me, I’ve had to move a bunch cork to that area to remove it.
I think I need more cork in the youngest of my gara lvs. I have a tube but no plunger, planning to 3d print one this week.
Anything I should know other than heat it up and push it in? I am looking to take up some volume lengthwise at the bottom front of my ankle, it feels snug up higher and on the side but less so there so this seems like a good option.
Martini spoons or whatever theyre called work great for removing cork
Be careful how much you add, do it little by little. If you add to much you can really screw things up, I know from experience. Once you get a little cork in there, move it by hand to where you think you need it. 1mm goes a mile, as they say.
You can just go to your hardware store and get a wood dowel for $3 to push the cork in unless 3d printing is your thing, I have no experience with that.

Coming from an Intuition PW... WRG, you had me concerned. I'm glad things are going in the right direction for you.
Best heel retention I've felt in foreva... but I'm having trouble alleviating pressure across the instep.
Moving and molding was easy. Left the liners in an older heated boot bag (that only gets to about 90°) for days. Mounted the liner and boot for an hour or so 3 times adding 2 tubes of cork. Then skied them toasted up twice.
Used a heat gun on low to make incremental changes after 15sec in the microwave. There is zero cork in the base of the tongue at this point.
I'm about to try skipping the bottom two loops for the laces.
If that doesn't work, I'm considering shaving the bottom of the bootboard... I never ran much buckle pressure (unless snow is heinous) and currently just enough to keep them in place.
Any trix to reducing the volume across the top of the instep?

Skip the bottom lace loop. If there’s cork in the window it’ll eventually find its way to the right spot and there won’t be pressure there anymore.
I skipped the bottom lace and put in a much thinner lacing system. Made all the difference.
If you still have clearance issues, shave the boot board. I have too on all boots.

I did the same^ with the laces
Zipfit really should sell all their liners with the super thin laces (already on the Corsas). Much, much better than the thick laces, quicker to tighten, likely stronger.

I had no problem with the laces..it was the tightening mechanism. I didn’t like it in my shell so I tried it outside the shell and didn’t love that either.

Okay Then... Laces moved up. Corsa laces ordered. Possibly giving the pliable rubber tongue stiffener some dremel buffing on the medial side without cutting the stitches and thinning the boot board to gain some wiggle room in the overly snug toe box along with providing some height for the instep.
Generally, besides the finite pressure point, my concern is the reported diminished warmth that seems to be the consensus in reviews. Although the liner appears ready to deal. Plush wool interior and exterior neoprene membrane... it hasn't been really cold here.
27.5 in a 27.5 - The liner is "stuffed"

I run a pair of Gara 27.5 in my 26.5 Tecnica Mach 1 MV. I found it fits the shell better and gives me more room in the toe area. The 26.5 liner was a bit short.

Gepeto, pull those laces out of the bottom loops (or bottom two if that’s where the pressure is)

Do you get relief undoing your buckles? How far up your foot is the pressure (toes/ball/instep)? If it’s just down low on the foot, you can try adding cork further up the foot so that you can do your boots up looser but still be held.
How soft does the cork actually get when heated?
I did my 2nd bake last night after the third day skiing them. Baked at 200deg for ~15min. Baked probably too long / hot - the black plastic cuff material was hot and “tacky”….
But the cork has never felt soft enough to easily displace without a decent amount of force.
Fit is definitely getting better each use / bake.

Yeah 200* for 15 minutes is too much. I heard a good recommendation is 170 and then turn the oven off and leave for 10-15 minutes. Sometimes I just use a hair dryer, 5 minutes, no more than 10, almost always gets it soft enough to move cork.
I mean, it’s not going to become liquified. If you get it warm and get your boots on, you’re going to have to flex your boot or ski them to get them dialed in. Doing it at home is only the first step. If you can, have them warm before you ski.
Just bought a second pair of leather ZF Workhorses.
I have a second pair of ski boots at home and like to leave another pair of boots up at Whistler. Same shells (Nordica Strider 120).
Spent $1,200 CDN (2 x $600 per pair) on two pairs of Zipfits. Money on ZF’s is money way better spent than similar $ amount spent at Surefoot for one liner that didn’t work.
ZF Liner pair #1:
I’ve done 2 bakes for 10 min at 130F in our steam oven (on confection not steam) and had ~12 good ski days in the first pair. Got Surefoot footbeds in them. Loving the feel/fit of the leather in the Workhorse. The leather interior holds your heel down very well. And don’t do the laces too tight.
They’re comfy and hold great.
ZF Liner pair #2:
The second pair seems “newer” and there is definitely a bit more omfit cork over the instep. Painful at the moment. 2 short bake for 8 and 10 min at 135F and I was able to push some of the cork off the instep. Need a second pair of footbeds now. Then set for years.

Nick, I find a heat stack works the best to warm up the cork without damaging any glues. Our boot oven goes to 180F I believe. I find 7 minutes in that works but the heat can be uneven and potentially make the sole delam a little bit. When you heat it up, make sure you don’t just stand still. It won’t move much. Instead flex in it, move around, pump that cork. Skiing still makes the final changes but working it after a hearing will get you heal to the back and make it go from uncomfortable to comfy enough.
If you're fitting at home user the microwave. I was hesitant at first, but it is seamless and recommended by Zipfit as the 1st option on their page.
