tip shape smashes through stuff. flex profile is nice and round and about as expected. Holds an edge and quick edge to edge as you would expect for a ski in this category. playful in skidded turns although I wasn't quite getting the snap out of the end of turns i expected from a stiff ski with carbon. I'm chalking that up to day 1 and not quite having them 100% figured out.
Overall super happy and can't wait to get more time on them. storm cycle forecasted says protests should be getting out soon.
Don’t get me wrong - I don’t have buyers remorse. Dope ski. But I have them mounted with vipecs. I would have bought a 185 BC if it had been available. Ultimately, the mvp looks like a mellower ski than the skinny RX. Felt that was the better choice out of bounds.Quote:

On paper, skinny RX looks like a more variable ob type of stick than the MVP. Throw some turntable 14/18’s on em and they will fuckin rail, slice n dice, and dance like everyone’s watching. Been skiing a lot of blown icy shite and these things trench in blanks I didn’t think I could scrape, and paso doble over skating rinks. They Krump everything. Been so long since I’ve been on skis that ski so traditionally I feel like I went all eric B n rakeem n let the rhythm hit em. For real though these things beg for input, they will give double what you put out but you better put out or they are some dead plank bitches, throw your weight into them and you can straight gas turns like a Bugatti. I think they can do anything but a GPO/BC type ski is certainly more suited to BC than a MVP in my personal experience, these don’t really slide n slarve without lots of speed and energy.Quote:

Love this ski, arguably my new favorite. It’s just so easy and fun. Billygoats with ease in tight trees. The shallow moguls were a blast, was skiing very fluid and fast. Can rail down groomers with big gs turns as well.
Totally sold on the heavy/veneer/carbon layup now. Very smooth, damp, but energetic. Loads of fun. Combined with FKS 180s I think it’s the perfect resort setup.
The ski really does not feel like 118 underfoot, more like 100 or 108. Asymmetrical sidecut seems to do its job, I really enjoy how they turn.
Overall they feel more nimble, more surfy, and considerably more damp than my old 187 enduro Nylon GPOs. Maybe slightly worse holding a tight edge down icy groomers
Of all the skis I’ve ever been on this would be my one ski quiver hands down I think. Would like to get it out info deep light powder to see how it fares there

I think once you dial in your tune and your stance on them, you'll find them better on icy groomers as well. I haven't been out on mine yet this year. I started PT (glute strengthening) and I suspect this is the "final" missing link in my fully bonding with them.Quote:

I gotta get back on both skis back to back, but I'd say that my GPOs have a looser initiation than my Qs.
My GPOs are 182, MAP / Carbon / Nylon top / flex #4 with Vipecs.
My Qs are 182, Enduro / Carbon / Veneer / flex #4 with Pivots (with inserts for Vipecs).
My Qs want to charge a bit more than my GPOs even before i mounted Vipecs on the GPOs. They previously had Wardens.
I'm guessing your rough morning was more about it being a rough morning than anything else (other than different boots to mate with pin binders?).

Remember that Keith says Qs are a plenty of an Rx and a GPO.
I'd call the Q a new school ski for an old school style. If the scale is playful>chargy I'd say they are right in the middle. I certainly wouldn't call them jibby.
I’d agree that they aren’t really a jib ski. Quick, slashy, surfy, and poppy yes
The increase in quickness over my GPOs could be partially attributed to the -5cm decrease in length as well
First day on 187 Enduro/Nylon/4 Flex Concepts. Really fun ski. Require a bit more of a technical approach I found, light forefoot pressure was best. Really like quick small radius turns. Did quite well on the Sierra cement refrozen. Would like to get these out in some fresh pow in tight trees, think they’d be scalpels in there
The concept is great, I do need to think while skiiing it at times though. I love how narrow they ski vs. true width. I find them to shine in trees and tight places. It’s the ski that blew me away from the start. For me nothing has given the same feeling of wow. My piste jibs are fun but the concept just runs better IMO, breaking then free and tossing them sideways are 55mph is a blast. I also had the the PJ built to stiff I think.
Have fun on those concepts.

jmars how big are you? My PJs are flex three, and are an absolute blast. I just had them tuned and changed the side edge to 2 degrees. On EC ice groomers, I can now load them huge and get launched into a turn like a rocket ship, and they just rip in Moguls.
Muggy Qs and Concepts this year! Good fkn times.
Never have actually, and no real good reason either I just always been attracted to Keith's weirder less conventional designs. However the last two seasons on the PJs though have shown me that he can just make a kick ass skis, even without asymmetrical tapers, and triple side cuts. I'm sure the Rx kills.
