Apparently someone pooped under the bleachers at the high school in Sedona. Two running teams are primary suspects including one from Quebec. "The Quebec boys frequently get themselves in situations like this." LOL. I blame the #vanlifers.

My last year in college I shared a house with four other guys. Our shared phone was a princess (remember those) with a 6 foot cord. We would fling the handset across the room to who ever was being called.
Except one day someone threw it to me and the jack in the phone base broke off. Call was functionally disconnected
The caller wanted to hire me for my first professional gig out of school :eek:

It wasn’t until the move to Nelson in the mid 80’s the house got a second phone. Dad splurged and got a cordless. Analog, so great range (maybe 150 or 200m), but picked up interference too easily. My sisters fought over that handset something fierce.

My parents held onto their rented rotary phone for many years. I don't think they even knew that you could own your own phone. When we finally convinced them to buy a new one they got a cordless. My dad would take the handset out to the garage with him, which was not attached and visible from the kitchen window. I'd wait until he was in the middle of something and then hit the locate handset button on the base. The handset would ring just like for a phone call, so of course he'd pick it up to answer. Took quite a while before he figured out we were messing with him.
I got to the point where I would physically startle every time my pager went off. I don't miss that. Still, it was better than when they started handing out cell phones for all the docs to carry--and you were expected to answer it immediately. "Let me stop doing CPR while I answer this call about a patient who needs a laxative". I managed to avoid that.Quote:

On a different note--this bit of corporate lawyer speak at Palisades: the "catch net" kept in a bucket at the bottom of lifts is now the "deceleration net".
I guess some lawyer figured they'd get sued if someone fell off a chair and hit the snow thinking that the net would catch them before they hit the snow, however slowly.
