I'm not sure I've ever tightened a presta core more than finger tight. Never had an issue.

I need to remember eye wear and ear protection next time. Didn’t even occurred to me when I set up my first and only tire so far. LBS couldn’t get it seal. They found a ding on the rim and offered to sell me a new wheel or a tube. I went with a cheaper option for a few months then decided to investigate. The ding turned out to be a tiny thing that I easily bended back with adjustable wrench. Retaped the rim with gorilla tape, bought a small compressor from harbor freight and sealed the tire on the first try! Getting tire on and off was a chore tho.Quote:
