looks like everyones been having fun!
we skinned around mt rose ski area today, got a run in east bowl, one in the chutes, and then a last one on the frontside to the car... saw a few others out there enjoying it
regarding stability: there was this funky windblown layer right on the surface that was sluffing off but other than that it had settled and stabilized quite a bit
Im curious to see what the turnout at alpine will be like this weekend...

Hiked up crescent moon today (in verts) and skied it. Snow had a funky wind crust on top, then soft underneath, I was struggling on my bonafides. Two boarders from meyers ripped it though!!
This convinced me to get carbokatanas.
The bottom third if the couloir skied well, and so did the apron.

Yeah. We thought about hiking around back, but it was too late in the day. Glad it skied well for you guys. We figured it would. We noticed that funky wind crust too. Was it breaking off or what?
We were actually talking about how we wished we had verts while we were wallowing in the bottomless... :nonono2:
At Squaw on Sunday morning, Susan at Wildflower was getting excited & snapping pics because there was a dude there from "Hotdog" the Movie.
She said "there were only 4 real actors in it" & he was one apparently.
I did not recognize (have not seen movie) but he was tall, and had "chiseled features".
Bloody good day. Glad they kept the lifts open an extra half hour.
Missed the Pallisades opening 'cos we were over on Granite zapping down Tree Chutes(??)
Did not find much untracked at KW on the Sat, but (sadly) that's what I'd expected.
Did get one bonafide face shot from a ribbon of fresh over on Norms Nose.
Frigging hell, there are some gnarly, narrow drops over there! But short.
Chamois was good (why is this so often the case?) even the bumps underneath the chute.
Eagle Bowl was a mistake, late in the day, not so bad earlier.
AllTheWay (?? between main drop in and Notch) was way more icy than it seemed from the lift.
Cinders got Gnar Points for dropping in anyway after seeing me pick up Mach speed, and nearly explode (some boarders showed up, and she didn't want to do "the walk of shame" in front of them.)

Saw folks booting up on our way out from the Sisters. Found fun powder, especially up high. There was some wind effected snow, but the warming temps sure helped soften things. Sitting here now, kind of wish we did go back for a third lap. It was that good.Quote:
