Oh, I get it. I saved a couple hundred bucks on these stupid low pro tires over local shops (all small independents), which is more than I can really afford to walk away from. The shop a mile away had no problems mounting them and provided great service. Next time, when the cost savings are minimal, they'll get all the business. They even talked me into an alignment.....
Tire Rack has made deals w lots of shops to install so you can add it onto your order. I think part of it is agreement that the shops won't do internet installs unless its ordered already. I encountered similar on a recent purchase although without the ridiculous convo encountered above
Dude you spoke to at the shop probably agrees with you and that's why he wanted to put you on with the owner, whose bright idea the policy probably is.
My America’s Tire has gone way overboard for me before, but they can’/won’t order the only Winter tires I can find for my little rig (185R/14). But they happily have mounted the last many sets for me. And, yes, they get other business from me.
Tried to order a full set of winter tires through my car dealership; they would order the front but not the rear (different size), but were happy to mount the rear tires I brought in after procuring them on Tire Rack. Good service but weird ordering policy.
They allegedly put a man on the moon 50 years ago but they can't make a tire that doesn't wear out.
Maybe if they put the tire on the moon it wouldn't wear out?
One thing that I miss about Kalifornia is being able to go to any Mexican-operated tire store and having virtually any service performed for a reasonable fee.
Repair this flat? No problemo.
Mount these tires I bought online? No problemo.
Do a valve job? No problemo.
Fuck your sister? No problemo.
I certainly miss those places.

People that go 5-10 under in 45-60 zones, then blow through little 30mph towns or intersections at the same speed.
Except Buster referred to 45-60 zones, which doesn't compute for Vermont.
Doing OK from the injuries although I've lost a lot of strength from inactivity. Gonna have to start working harder. Thanks for asking.
You've driven behind my wife. 10 over in residential areas, 5 under in the left lane on the freeway. Drives me nuts, but that's marriage.
We seem to have a lot of 45s and not many 40s, so whatever, you get the point.
I do a long backwoods roll that can be great, but once in a while I get stuck behind one of these: 40 mph in the 45 zone, 40 mph through the 35 to 25 little weedy little town zones.
I wanna lick your donut.

Google maps tells me to go north, turn left. Except north is right. Then it tells me to go west turn right, but right is east.
Walking the dog, pass a 30 something guy, long hair, beard. I say "evening". He says "whatever." Guess I might as well go back to being my usual antisocial self.
whatever....
