it would have been a lot shorter if it had just been the deck, but we had to do the whole underconstruction as well because it was rotten. And oiling the wood also took a lot of time.

Those lanterns are standard issue at MT forest service cabins. I also have a handful of mantel packs since we stay at them often. I also always leave a couple packs when I leave because there's never any there and those lanterns kick ass compared to our headlamps/new lanterns.
Also agree it's a skill to put on/take off those sumbitches and not tear them. I've used tie wire and a leatherman quite a few times trying to extend their life.
