Colorado Weather Discussion Thread

The snow on the Ridge was getting heavy after noon. Sun’s out baking everything. Wild Child, and Super Bowl got gang rapped.

You may have luck in trees or hike out to Marmot.

Mine Dumps were also untouched. Good luck setting that bootpack haha.

Loveland was all time for the first three hours today.

Snow was getting heavy by noon at the Basin today, but there was a lower East Wall rope drop around 1:30, so that made up for it.

The North Pole gate also opened, but with my recovering knee, this is not the year for me.

I'd expect WP to be a mucky mess at its altitude.

It was pretty heavy by the time they opened it, but it was still fun. If I weren't so cooked by the time they dropped the ropes, it would have been even more fun ;-)

It was pretty hilarious - the number of people hiking Willie's for "fresh" turns. There must have been 35 people on the staircase.

Upper was good. I was probably 30 people back, but managed 2nd track down East/West Vertical after the 'troller - the other 30 skied NNP. 2nd notch was as thin as I've ever seen it.

I also hiked Wille's maybe 15 off the front, last behind a big pack of slow boats. Scored again with the lemming mentality - everybody went (looker's) left to snorkel nose, so I went right and skied by myself. Very much fresh. Ya just gotta believe man!

I thought the snow on upper east wall and most other places was great. Maybe it's the Billy Goats, or adaptation after skiing PNW concrete Sat/Sun

I have a friend in town this weekend and he has a free steamboat ticket- debating if it's worth making the trek up there to ski Saturday/stay there that night since he hasn't been there before or if we should ski loveland/a-basin instead ( will probably ski one of those Friday too, and ski Sunday at winter park). This week's storm is looking colder but I'm worried about temps between now and the - worth it to make the extra drive to steamboat for Saturday or should we stick to the higher, closer ski areas?

I was in both and both were good. Don't be mad if you missed out, just get on it next time. EW wasn't that heavy at all, and had a nice base to keep you off the rocks.
