God forbid people might just learn how to pass a vehicle without slowing down to 40mph.

I saw something amazing last friday... We'd just arrived at EWR and had gotten in an Uber car. We headed toward I78, driving through several lanes merging along the way. At each merge, cars accelerated and joined the flow of traffic, which never dropped below 65mph! Incredible!

Saw something amazing last night too. Driving I70 west, after the Yankee game. Traffic is crawling along at 35mph... Turns out there's a dipshit driving 35 in the middle lane, followed pretty closely by another dipshit driving 35 in the left lane, and cars are waiting until they're touching the bumper of the car ahead of them to decide to try to merge into the right lane to pass... I'm not sure, but I think they probably need a Peak Period Shoulder Lane in that spot.

not sure what it is out here, I guess everyone in colorado is so "nice" that people are allowed to do stupid shit, what you just described is spot on, traffic is bumper to bumper flying at 60 plus mph you put your signal on and someone actually allows you to merge, what a concept? People are too self abosorbed in colorado to let each other safely merge, If you can't go with the flow of traffic, well then you don't drive on the highway

Just last week I was coming down floyd hill and sure enough some gapers from Minnesota are doing fifty in the left lane, you can see their heads swiveling around enjoying all that colorado has to offer, tap the horn, nothing, tap it again, nothing, finally after the third time they move over, now I could have passed on the right but it was the principal get the fuck out of the way

There's also the complete lack of understanding of maintaining ones speed as you go up a hill. You can pretty much blame flatlanders for that one. They never had hills to learn from. The sheer amount of traffic generated by hills on a CO hway is pretty insane.

By the time the idiots realize that they're slowing down and need to give the car a little gas, they're going 40.

You hit it on the head that merging is one of the main problems on the highways. People just can't figure it out.

If two lanes converge to one people don't use both lanes until the merge point, causing a lane blockage back sometimes miles. it reduces the road's capacity. They think they are being polite by "lining up to wait your turn," but really are fucking up traffic flow. Of course if you follow the rules of the road and use the open lane until the merge point then people are belligerent and flip you off or try to block you from merging.

At regular highway merge point people try to merge far too early, before they've reached the travelling speed of the road and therefore slow down the entire road's speed = traffic jam.

I lost it on some asshole going 45 up the left lane of the Georgetown Hill the other day. No cars in the right. 3 cars ahead of me came up to him, and each ended up having to pass him on the right. He would not budge. When I reached him, I sat behind him, flashing incessantly. Still no movement to the right lane. I finally gunned it past him and he's the one flipping me the bird. After some shouting I left him in the dust while more traffic begun to pile up behind him. I just cannot believe what complete idiots there are out there.

It all stems from a lack of consequences... Try that shit on the BQE two, or maybe even three times and your likelihood of getting run off the road or shot goes through the roof.

as far as merging, watched this guy in vail where it goes from one lane to two run into the merge cones, it was off the charts, huge suburban loaded down with bikes, the guy probably couldn't tell where the car started and ended, the person behind him was giivng him room to get in, but I guess he needed the lights flashed and a 1/4 mile of space to comfortably merge, so instead of putting his blinker on and merging he just rode it out as far as he could too scared to get over the there was cones in front of him

Why does choosing to live somewhere mean that we shouldn't be trying to solve problems? It's not catering to anyone to try and improve our road infrastructure. License at 16 and then forget about it. It's a ridiculous system. Road tests should be part of a new license. People literally have zero idea of common road laws. The left hand lane deal is absurd. I love it when you race up behind a left lane car, it moves over to let you go then gets right back in the left lane.

I got to do the whole thing in a 24' box truck through a torrential rainstorm once. Pretty sure the armrest still has my wife's fingerprints in it.

I was just in Burma and the traffic there makes all of this even funnier. I was riding a motorbike down a steep divided highway coming off the Shan plateau. Packed road, switchbacks, lots of trucks. We came up on stopped traffic and everyone just turned around and drove to the last spot where the 2 sides of the road connected and started heading down the wrong side of the road for a few kilometers to the next turn-around spot. We had to stop a few times to let semis around switchbacks. Funny thing is that everyone there keeps right and honks to pass. And if you honk, people move over.

Was driving WB yesterday afternoon, stuck behind some cunt with CA plates doing 10 under in the left lane. I was in my 2500, which has an incredibly loud horn.. She had her windows down. After finally working through the line of traffic passing her on the right, I got my front end up next to her window and blasted the horn. I thought she was going to shit her pants. I then suggested she move the fuck over, but she declined to do so. Regardless, the look on her face was priceless.

heck man, just because I didn't get a 4.0 gpa and I got rejected when I applied to columbia, still bumbed about it twenty years later, so I moved to breck and became a wasteoid I'll be skiing in late oct early nov, let me know if you wanna go skiing, in the meantime I'll be riding bikes everyday and taking remedial how to construct a sentece classes this summer

I used the express lane on Sunday at about 5:30 pm. The price was $4.00 and definitely worth it! Must of saved a significant amount of time judging by how many cars we were passing.

It's a bit scary passing at that speed (45-55 mph) as the left "regular" lane was crawling along. Some douche with CA plates crossed the white line of the express lane a few miles past the entry at the 40 exit and then crossed back in the regular lanes in Idaho Springs (over the white line again). How does that work? Is he going to be sent a bill, a ticket, or nothing happen?
