Went for a ride tonight. 10 to 15 minutes after this was taken the sky gets reallllly cool...that vibrant, liquid pink and orange...I need to get a good camera.

Sorry in advance for the shitty iPhone pics. Camera has shit the bed.
Ran into this moose family up on Empire Link up at PCMR yesterday. I thought they only gave birth one at a time, twins?
Then got up to the the top of Jacobs Ladder down in Draper today. First pic is Timp peeking up over the ridge, then Utah lake, then the valley where I came from.
WOOT! WOOT! Good to see you back in the saddle. I've got AM's off. Hit me up if you want to hit the trails in the mornings.
I wonder if this is the same moose that gave birth on John's trail last year. I thought it was weird that she already had a fairly young calf.
Too many for sale what should I buy threads bump.

He's actually pretty pissed off in the second shot because I'm stopped for the pic and not riding, "Let's gooooooo Dad!"
Last weekend was the Canaan Valley MTB Fest, a low key affair but nicely attended. Rode and partied for three days straight on day four we do some of this.

Not what you want to see running towards you.
Was taking a break a little bit away from bike towards where they are in the pic (it's at Dog Lake between Mill D and Mil Creek). Turned and saw them moving with haste towards me and let out the "oh shit" and went to the nearest trees. Only then did I pull out the camera and take a few pics.
I was hoping there would be no stepping on the newish plastic bicycle...
I hate it when I get the jump on them. Almost got trampled on Mother's day actually. We were up in Mtn Green visiting my folks and decided to take an impromptu hike on the trails below Snowbasin on our way home. It got dark while we were walking back to the car and I couldn't see shit because I didn't bring my regular glasses. We had seen a moose earlier but lost track of it in the dark, when it suddenly charged us out of nowhere, stopped and stomped on the ground a couple of times, then ran off. One of the scariest moments of my life. The fact that my fiance was with my tripled the intensity (shit can happen to me, but the thought of something happening to her freaks me the fuck out). I nearly passed out after because the adrenaline rush was so strong.
Couple GoPro pics from today. First day of chairlift access @ Brundage, Idaho. The trails are a blast. My wrists/arms/legs are dead though... Fully rigid 29er SS rallying all day does some damage.

This might be my favorite ride of all time. Alpine meadows give way to pine forests as you descend 3000 ft over 7 miles of winding single track. Scenic views and shit-eating grins are de rigeur.

Wow, I almost forgot what real singletrack looks like. Almost everything here in Utah is well, not.
I wish these photos could convey the dustiness of the trail, but they don't. Oh well

The best part of my after-work loop. It just rained so a little tackier and less dusty than usual.

The ROUSes dig some of their burrows right on the lip of some of the faster parts of this trail. It keeps you on your toes. I'm told that capturing one on camera is almost unheard of. Consider yourself lucky that you get to see it.

It was this fucking hot. If the summers were 10 degrees cooler and there was decent skiing nearby, I'd be a lifer here. I like my neighborhood and the local biking is great. But for fuck's sake. It's gonna be like this through September, and the humidity is indecent. You just have to deal with it.

My neighbors are professional chefs. They fed us. Patronize them if you find yourself in need of DC area catering services or a good restaurant meal around Rockville, MD.

Nice bike, Marsh.
I was talking with a neighbor recently, and she pointed out that, in lots of places, you're stuck inside through the long winter months*. Here, you're stuck inside in July and August.
I actually took up running last winter because I needed some ying to my biking yang that I used get from skiing part of the year. There's really not a time of year you consistently can't ride a bike here. It's good and bad.
*I'm talking about being able to hang out outside regularly with family, play in the yard, eat on the deck, etc.
