I'm not sure it would turn out the way Orange man thinks it will. I say Canada should agree to join the US. We have 10 provinces and 3 territories. Even if only the 10 provinces become states, that is 20 senators and a bunch of seats in Congress. Assuming the number of seats stays fixed at 435 and get reapportioned, Canada would get 10.5% or 46 seats based on 40M and 340M populations. Even though Canada's urban/rural split is similar to the US, Canada is a much more liberal country overall with some very different beliefs when it comes to values like equality and human rights. If the political structure remained a two party system I'd think the majority of those House and Senate seats would go to the Democrats and give them a substantial margin in the House, the Senate, and the Presidency. Canada can then fix the US, and secede back to being it's own country. Win/win.

Presidents of both parties have for many years declared bogus national emergencies to justify executive orders. Congresses controlled by both parties have let them get away with it.. The United States and Canada are each other's largest energy trading partners. Energy travels between the two countries through: Natural gas and liquid fuel pipelines, Transmission points for electricity, and Cross-border electric transmission lines. In the past Canada exported much more electricity to the United States than it imported but now but the trade today is much more balanced due to lower U.S. natural gas prices. So in the east the U.S. imports more electricity and in the west Canada imports more, and so on down the line.
