Bama's A game beats everyone else's A game. But Bama brought their A game for approximately 6 quarters the whole year. Thy simply were not a good enough team to make the playoffs, despite having (arguably) the best talent in CFB. They lost 3 games and still nearly made the playoff. Their schedule doesnt need to be re-evaluated, they just need to not lose 3 games! I guarantee Nick Saban would say the exact same thing.
The BCS era was bullshit trying to pick the top 2 teams. The 4 team playoff era had it right, IMO- made it so you had to be championship caliber team the whole year as is traditional with CFB. This 12 team playoff is too pro-like where the regular season counts a whole lot less and you can have an up-and-down season, get hot at the end and win a natty. I liked it when the CFB champion had to have a magical season that was nearly flawless. So, when/if a 2 loss or 3 loss team whines about not making it in, it just grinds my gears... if you want to be the national champion you should prove you are the best in the country EVERY WEEK, and if you lost 2 or 3 teams i have a hard time accepting you are deserving of being called the best team in CFB.
Lane Kiffin has increasingly been one of my favorite personalities in CFB to listen to. Always responding to Bama's BS and stirring the pot.
Count me among the many happy that Bama will be playing my Wolverines in the **checks notes** the Bourbon Bowl? who knows, some such shit that will have plenty of alumni attend. Extra points that Bama has to play a down Michigan team instead of one of the other teams that just missed out on the Playoff. Salt in the wound.
If they went with strength of schedule, there would be 10 SEC teams in the tourney. Georgia is very beatable, especially on a neutral field without their possie of hand-picked officials.
If Tennessee gets through Ohio State, we have a great shot at making the semi-finals.
Moneyline: Tennessee (+200), Ohio State (-250)
Spread: Tennessee (+7), Ohio State (-7)
The over/under for this CFP first-round matchup is 46.5
Hope the odds makers are right, and Nico shows up along with the offensive line!
Carson Beck likely to miss the Sugar Bowl with arm injury.

Hence the past tense in my post.
Well, there is this: https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...oise-st-oregon
They played the #1, undefeated team to a last minute 3 point game.
The SEC teams have deep pockets in their collectives. A fellow I know probably puts $20mm in the collective annually. He also has two buildings on the UT campus named after him as well as the Vet clinic. There are tons of those folks in the SEC. Money buys teams, just ask the Mets.
There is a reason they won't use a strength of power analysis, just as the conference winners get an automatic bye.
But, I do agree that it will be an interesting playoff to see how parity works out. I will still bet that it is likely that three of the final four will be SEC teams.
its happening!!! the hoodie and son to chapel hill!!!
i say fuck it. nothing to lose and everything to gain.

^^Maybe they can help the BB too….lol.
Actually a hire like this helps the whole athletic program.
Free student tuition for his girlfriend.
Not sure if room and board or her sorority dues are included or not.
In all fairness, that was arguably Oregon’s worst performance of the year in terms of unforced errors, penalties and general sloppiness. They started horribly with Idaho, then it actually got worse before they put it together. That said, I do think BSU will shock some people in the playoffs. It’s easy for folks who haven’t seen them actually play to write them off but they’re a fucking good football team. It’s happened before…

Are you arguing that the SECs deep pockets make them immune to the equalizing effects of NIL? Not sure there’s that much discrepancy. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ee8d53133f.jpg

Ashton Jeanty on not leaving Boise State. Man I hope he does well in New York.Quote:
“I told those (schools), ‘You guys overlooked me three years ago. Now you want me?’” Jeanty told USAToday. “It just made me realize I made the right decision all along by coming here.”
This is the softest shit ever.
In response to the flag planting at the Horseshoe, an Ohio lawmaker has proposed a bill making flag planting at the Shoe a 5th degree felony.
In the words of Judge Gladys Dykes (probably), "this will go on your permanent record."

Today is potentially the most consequential day in the trajectory of our athletic program! Finally getting commitment and buy-in from university leadership and big $ donors. It's been a dry spell for our revenue sports and this is a much needed injection of hope.
I totally acknowledge this might end in a blazing flame out. But if we want our athletic program to be relevant in the next decade we have to be committed to football. Gotta push the chips in!
I'm as nostalgic as anybody about watching the ACC tourney on a rolling TV cart at school (or better yet my dad letting me skip school and taking me to the Greensboro Coliseum). But I think UNC is only loyal to the ACC because the grant of rights forces us to be. Clemson, FSU, and UNC are gonna be on the first bus out once the GOR is defeated (or it's at least financially viable). The revenue gap is just too much to overcome.
i have faith that the media deal will be renewed past '27 and i don't think the fsu and clemson departures are as imminent as is being reported. hell, what i read today says fsu is already backtracking. the whole thing is still very much up in the air. but i do know two things for sure: jim phillips has got to go and greg sankey can go fuck himself.
was hoping Bill would be back in the NFL, but UNC will have me watching a few of their games.
How quick will they be good team? Deion turned Colorado around pretty quick and Bill is the better coach. With NIL and transfers they could be legit their first season.. but if they aren't legit by their second season like Colorado was this year would it be considered a let down?
Our schedule is pretty weak next year so the potential is certainly there for an instant turnaround. That said, we are losing a lot in the trenches and have an avg QB. So will need to pull off a major talent injection. But "come be my Tom Brady" has to be a pretty effective recruiting pitch whether that's HS or the portal.
Not stoked for this. Take away the circumstances of how bailed on us for Michigan, you still have his off-field BS at Arizona and a .549 record after leaving WVU. Big media talk about "making a character hire", then boosters had their say and the AD deferred.
Like a battered wife, West Virginia is sure this time will be different.

Heard an interesting segment today about how Bill is an obvious genius with schemes and strategy but not known for his player development. He’s very good at plugging in NFL players into said schemes where they excel within that specific scheme but apparently not particularly well rounded. Should be interesting.
