The vaccinate thread isn't any more of a cesspool than any other current event thread that goes over 10 pages. Most devolve the same way. The vaccine thread is unique because it's faster and has legs.

Also: it has tons of value. There's good info in there and its also useful to hear about how other people are digesting and managing the situation at a personal level.

As in colonial days when they had public hangings at the town square, perhaps we set aside every other Friday to ban people from here on? We have other popular days here such as Titty Tuesday so Banishment Friday might be a nice addition. The Mod Team could publish a list of the banishee's names and aliases, present them to the populace then hit the ban button at high noon. I think these random banishments are sorta fucking with the flow of the place.

I don't read the covid thread, why the fuck would I? If I want real info I go the the CDC. If I want to read arguments I'd rather it be about whether >110mm skis are useful.

I felt the same way as you until the other day. First ignore of my TTips career. I've been good at just not reading stuff. However, at some point I started thinking the guy need to just shut the fuck up. Just give it a rest already. And at about the time I had had enough, so too had the mods.

Like Jay and JC and some other folks I find it hard to get too worked up about some dumbass spewing dumbassery. But I know that people do, and that whole dynamic is negative for the place as a whole. It'd be sweet if people could actually not feed the trolls, but for some reason they can't.

It's very possible that the mods don't even see a lot of the bs for the same reason I don't, shit like the vaccine thread is tedious as shit. It's not fun to read, and there's nothing funny about any of it. Lots of forums have a "report post" button and having one here would help draw their attention to shit more quickly I bet, and maybe even cause things like bans to happen more quickly.

So when the tags are put back and a "like" button is added they should do that too.

Agreed. Rog could thrunt w the best but I still enjoyed his nonsense and didn’t take it too seriously and felt his banishment was over the top. Skid og didn’t bother me much but he was more of a thread clogging turd because of the sheer volume of idiocy he he posted when he would get butthurt (which was often)
