That appears to be an incredibly steep skin track. I doff my hat to your ability, though I sure as hell wouldn't want to go up it.

More than a few locals passed me heading for the pass yesterday . Must be something up there. Has to be better than the hill at the moment

And noisy turns were had.
Spring skiing for a few hours in the afternoon each day at Red. Mostly skiing the same few runs, as it's boilerplate everywhere else. Sharpening my edges for the weekend.
Surprisingly good skiing in the alpine at Kokanee. Hard as fuck at lower elevations, but softish winter snow above 7500'.
Did a quick lap in montana yesterday and the snow was starting to facet making skiing "okay" and interesting once in the tress. fluff of snow on the way should improve things beyond the boundaries. It's trying to snow right now. Here's to hoping anyways
I went and checked Avalanche off the list today. We ascended and descended via NRC Gully. The lower section of NRC Gully was horrible. It was an unbreakable death crust which made for brutal travel going up and even worse skiing going down. Lacking ski crampons, I actually boot-packed a good chunk of it. Once we got into the bowl itself (circa 1700m) the conditions improved substantially. There was anywhere from 5-20 cm of snow, depending on wind affect. It was like that right to the summit. On top of that, the weather was perfect, the stability great and the views spectacular.

Skied the East face of Mac today after a night shift. Super fun and sloughy, took our time picking through the cliff bands and found way better snow conditions than i expected but i wouldn't say sending anything in there is a fantastic idea at the moment. Getting down was a nightmare, i was informed later that you can huge the left of the drainage and make it back too greely but we skied all the way down on lots of old ( big ) avy debris and skin up bullet proof refreeze for several hours instead, much more fun!

Photo was taken yesterday from across the valley.
Alpine still skiing quite nicely. Busy day in Connaught. The skiff of fresh snow helped the ski out tremendously (at least yesterday). Pic of 8812 bowl - probably another 15 or so tracks down the bowl after the pic got taken. Not much solar effect yesterday except on direct south aspects.

yes very nice shot. looks like your surfin in a pipe with a sastrugi/cornice wave about to crash
Found some fun snow and sun on Sunday. Southern Monashees, about 10-15cm on top of the crust.
Wicked crew, hit a bunch of new lines, got a couple summits.
Those big lines way in the back. Whoa
Yeah, some good stuff here! Desert grassland to rainforest and big mtns in 40minutes.

Jay took the chute down while we skied the sportier bits. Spot the skier .
Indeed that's us. Good eyes. Avalanche really is a great tour.
I wrote up a trip report, with some more pictures: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...anche-Mountain
...
Sunday I went and toured into a new zone (for me) off the resort. Ski quality was more of the same - variable snow on a crust - but it was fun to get into a new area and have a look around.
Has anyone heard any names for the bowls off the back of the cat ski terrain? I know Highway Bowl, but there's three others back there that I've never heard names for.
Hey Alex if you find out let me know. Was just trying to short this out with friends the other day.
Nice work Lamothe. Never been on the face, on the to do list.
I went for a mission up MacPherson early Sunday. Not a whole lot to recommend other than the cool sunrise views from the "other" side of the valley. We got a little side tracked in the early AM dark, wasted time, blah blah. Experienced nearly every type on snow (except pow), various crusts, lots of avy debris. On the positive side there is some cool terrain up there for when snow conditions are better.
I saw all the tracks on Avalanche driving home Sunday afternoon, looked nice up higher. Good to see people making the most of the weather even though the skiing isn't the greatest just now.
How much butthurt can I expect in Revelstoke this weekend with all the non-snow they have had the past two weeks or so? Are things at least softening up during the day?
Are there any kitchens still open at 11:00 on a Thursday night?
Check out this thread http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...oke-Conditions
The past few days I've been haven't been warm enough to turn the non-groomed stuff to skiable corn. The weekend forecast is looking cold, though maybe sunny, I wouldn't expect much softening before late-ish afternoon.
Late night food, Nico's pizzeria and taco club.
x2 on taco club. great food and people + comfy leather couchs= win. I like Nico's as well. looks like some snow in the distance forecast. hope I didn't jinx that. running out of ointment for the butthurt
If you're really desperate, there's 7-Eleven
Thanks for the late night food recs.
I'm bringing my AT/BC gear, but I don't see it getting used.
I went up Ghost this past weekend with a buddy, we left Saturday and set up camp on the bench above the lake. We summited on Sunday then broke camp and slogged back to the resort.
Ski crampons were definitely an asset. The face had some pockets of windblown powder which were fun and lots of patches that were wind scoured, but nothing too heinous.
On our way back to camp to pick up the tent we ran into a local pro skier who was doing it solo, as a day tour. As we plodded our way back to the resort with heavy packs I decided it's probably better done in a day.

Just arrived but from the looks of it I should have stayed in CO. Here until the 10th. If anyone wants to meet up LMK.
Also - Has anyone taken AST 1 through RMR? Looking for feedback. I tried two other guiding outfits that offer it as well but only RMR has gotten back to me.
Nice blob of green on gaydar been sitting over the southern monashees since 9pm last night. Supposed to be sunny again tomorrow. Hoping for more of this
Went out to Ghost today. Skiing sucked, but a peak is a peak, right?
Sick Sick Day on Saturday. Found a zone with about 20-30cm fresh of blowface, total bluebird! Pics soon.
Got to watch it full screen to see the rider, just a taste of the zone:

Ticked this one off the list!

Working on a little edit (if I can remember how) but here is one of the funner lines from Feb 28th. We called it Gary Busey, multiple entrances made it great for a few guys and a girl to get different runs at it. Attachment 164753

You know it's been a rough season when you blow off work for ankle deep :o. 12cm overnight at WW, twas quite nice to be able to venture from the groomed at last.
Better save it from page 2. Some more pics from last weekend. Doing the 2nd weekend of my AST 2 this weekend, shitty timing for snow science.
