Weather report just improved a bit. High of only 34 on Friday (when it might rain) at 3000'. Should stay snow up high. Probably wind affected pow.

Unfortunately, I think I'm gonna have to stick with no. Sorry man!
you should be surfing my friend. today got outrageous fun, as will tomorrow and maybe saturday. skinning whitegrass? better for waxless xcbc imo. timberline warrants skinz with better more vert pitch.
nice to see so many folks taking advantage of the white.

mmmmm, pasty^^^^^^^^^^^looks a tad warm. that dood in red suit skinning the warmth in a helmet looks a little over dressed.
way to use it up!

That's what we wanted, thanks for getting that up. Looking forward to this winters adventures.
Dress a tad warm...,maybe? Or maybe it was to compensate from 6 celsius hotel rooms. You should see how we played pool down there.
Helmet? Wrong guy. We Canadians call it a toque. I even believe it might have been bought at the MRG General Store.
Okay, on the road again. Google says I'm 5 hours from home...drive should much easier than Monday night. I should borrow MattC GoPro to capture the moment I'll say to borderguard in Canada that I went skiing to WV. I might be locked up in an insane asylum or/and tested for heavy drug use.
Nice work MC and MadPat! Thanks to the mags too...mrs and I laughed our heads off last night reading this thread on a 4 inch screen. This whole adventure been a nice diversion from pile of crap on the front side of the storm.
tBatt - the sad thing is Winterplace rarely has that much snow coverage in-season. Keep the WV stoke coming!
Yes...the vertical is subpar in WV, but that shot is pointing towards the flat Blackwater River Valley (a broad valley at roughly 3,100').
I think helmets are mos def needed in the east. The trees are tight and rather hard when you hit them (birch, beech, maple).
I'll end my anal retentiveness now.
Anyone from the NYC tri-state area headed down tonight? PM me.
This morning was good, real good up above 4000 ft and it just went bluebird . I'm tripping .. More pics later.

Thanks for posting up some stoke.
I'm leaving tonight. Staying in downtown davis. Bringing grill and a case of beer. Probably gonna skin t line tomorrow with the wife and dogs tomorrow.
Is the power back on downtown?

Hit up TLine today... Lots of fun, snow is beautiful! I'm in the lot now, waiting for Jonathan S to complete his obscene number of laps for today.

BushwackerinPA gets it doneAttachment 124539
In case you didn't know PNWBrit ,Jonathan. S. RUNS up Mount Washington every year and organizes the rando race series so that amount of vert is no surprise to me.
There is going to be a mogul field all over the mountain once he's done. I remember skiing Airplane on MTW a day or two after Rog and him skied it. I couldn't believe they were moguls.
edit: Oh yeah, no one found that white bag with my googles inside that would have fallen out on my last short last run in WV yesterday?
Borderguard was a bit surprised when I crossed at lunch and curious about skiing in West Virginia. Much easier crossing than crossing into the US Monday night.
In the car headed back now. Three days of epic Bc skiing far away from the problems at my doorstep in NYC. Thanks west virginny and mags for help and an awesome time.
Video above is from mattchuck2. Glad he made it back home and edited that up so quickly.
^^^ Sweet vid!!!
Great to hook up and ski with you guys. Safe trip home to all.
Holy Bajeebus, that was awesome. It was every bit as good as a regular winter storm skiing, and even then better than most!
All night driveathon, no-sleep hot laps in some awesome trees and open trails, moonshine, electricity and heat-free amenities, 3-pin nutjobs getting crazy, more hot laps for more bottomless pow, hotel evacuations, so many good laughs, great suffrage and awesome crew up there.
So happy that we made the drive! Could not possibly be more stoked on such an obscure road trip. What an awesome place that little valley is, such good terrain and people!
My deepest powder condolences to those who didn't go. Seriously. +++vibes+++
Looks super fun. I was trying to make a road trip work coming up from central NC, but too much bullshit at work to deal with yesterday, today, and this weekend.
Those of you who sucked on winter's teat this week, well done.
Well done gentlemen well done! Love the video! I have never been to Canaan Valley, but having just moved to Columbus, Ohio I plan to storm chase there every chance I can this season. I was not able able to participate this week due to recovering from a stress fracture. Nevertheless, I'm glad you guys had a smashing time down there and its good to year you enjoyed the terrain. I am hoping that this dense snow will stick around for the season to provide a nice base, but it is early November in the Mid-Atlantic.
How many 40-50 degree days can this high-moisture content snow handle before it is just a fading memory? I'm sure the ground is still pretty warm in addition to it warming up.
WHO? US?
