haha, giants, GIANTS. sorry to get you excited.
i like that move.
This wheeler deal too. no one in queens thought he was going to be so good, now it looks like one of the best long term contracts a pitcher has ever signed, no?

I was wondering why I wasn't seeing anything about it here locally lol.
Hope Acuna's knee is ok. Baseball is better when he's playing.
Braves hiring a new Freeze. You got what it takes?

Of course.
“Brutal news: Initial imaging showed Boston Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito likely has a partially torn UCL and flexor strain and could miss the 2024 season, league sources tell ESPN. Giolito, who signed a two-year deal with Boston, may need surgery to repair the right-elbow damage.”

is there a reason why the sox are acting like the smallest market team instead of one with the third largest fanbase in the sport?
kind of weird there are two 1/2 pitchers out there still and they were going to run Giolito out on opening day.
It’s mind boggling. They have basically given up on competing for like five years in a row.
I like what the Giants are doing. Could use a another rotation guy, but I think we can make some noise with this group. We just need to get in the tournament.
I was watching a random replay of the ATL/Yankees preseason game and they showed Juan Soto doing his hands to god celebration after a spring training single right as the “Gerrit Cole to get an MRI on his throwing elbow” headline came through. A little on the nose even for the Yankees.
Celebrate the little victories.
Gerrit Cole….meet Dr James Andrews…..
Mookie Betts is the new Dodgers shortstop and some classless kooks cheer an injury.
Anything else get missed today?
Hey, I was celebrating the spring training single. I never root for injury, cause that shit will come back and haunt you bad. Nevermind the classless bit.
He’s not injured it’s just an MRI

I think it's a great idea, and they need all the help they can get to bring fans in down there. Make that shit as lively as one of those DR/PR WBC games.
Pumped up for baseball season Wally Backman style

The BP ball launch got me good
I saw Vlad make a nice play at first the other day and I wouldn’t mind taking the trip to Toronto to see a game this season. Still an interesting team. It’s crazy how uneven the talent is between divisions but it’s probably always been that way a bit.
Well…some of the division at least.
How many impact players does Boston have? 1? Wtf. Some of the relievers are pretty good. Bello is promising. Yoshida capable.
Fuuuckkk. It’s early and I’m staring at a computer screen and this is my outlet.
They’re ruining my summah!!
According to Spotrac, the Dodgers have only the ninth-highest payroll in 2024 at $214,721,666. The New York Yankees, New York Mets, Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs each have higher payrolls than the Dodgers for this upcoming season.
Little shifty math there with Ohtani's deal though, yeah?
Guardians nearly complete with their renovation of Jacob's Field which turned many lesser used spaces into big, open lounges, beer gardens and standing rails like the popular Corner Bar in right field which I think look awesome.

Add to that the club will continue to offer a $41 a month all you can attend ballpark pass that gets you in to as many games as you want (no reserved seating). If I lived there I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.

Freeman, Betts and Hernandez also have about $200 million worth of deferrals in their contracts. The Dodgers’ cash outlay this year is pretty funny considering who they have on the field. Luxury tax payroll is probably a better measure though, and the Dodgers still are behind the Mets and only a few million past the Yankees.
Snell to the Giants, which leaves just a handful of "big" names out there without a home.
Which begs the question, does Bauer get picked up before the season or does he never put on another big league uniform again? The guy can still pitch apparently, is willing to play for league minimum, and from my cursory knowledge of his situation, was vindicated/exonerated in his sex assault saga. That said, he still seems to be a pretty terrible person and the PR hit is enough to keep many GMs at bay.
We'll still probably finish third, but no one is going to want to see the Giants come tourney time.
