Some very firm corduroy at Bachelor this morning. Had Red spinning off and on at 8am. Old Red is showing its age. Lots of brown spots starting to show up. I hear that the Skyliner Express is set to go on Tuesday.
Not much else to report.

^^^How much on vs off @Red?
Kind of a bummer they offer passholders early ups then it don’t “up”
I got 3 runs in from 8am-9am. There was no real line at 8am. Maybe 20 skiers total. But the line grew as the chair stopped and started. It was somewhat annoying. It would run for a few minutes, stop for 30 seconds. Or just slow down to half speed. Probably would have been no line at all if it had just run slow and steady.
For the one time we did red it was slowing EVERY time a little kid loaded due to the low ramp/high chair. “Jump!” Was the order given.

Soggy, socked-in day on Oregon's most eligible mountain. Punchy saturated runnels off trail, grabby groomers, a few short-lived flakes up high. C'monnn winter....
Anyone ride the Skyliner 6? Did it break down or did they remember to grease up those bearings this time around?
Yes it seems to be running just fine

Coverage a little thin though. Hopefully todays precip will help
Brownies.....where's the nutaryuk
Have we started taking bets on when MHM opens MHX? If so, I’ll put ten on 2nd week of Jan.

I already put a bet down when I told my kid to not bother bringing his skis home on break
fuuuuuuk
What’s the cheapest IKON trip driveable from pdx that isn’t Bachy, Xtal or Alpy? [i got gifted a 4-pass so trying to think ahead to spring break] And likely to hold good snow come March 15 or so?
Go north to BC? South to Mammoth?
That might be the smart call. My SIL has two California gold passes thru her office. So that could extend the options. Tho spring break access to those passes might be tight
I was planning on driving up to Bend for the week between Christmas and New Year’s (from SF; tour at Shasta and Crater Lake on the way in/out; maybe bring bikes for high desert riding as backup). Getting second thoughts based on the existing conditions and forecast. Looks like it’s thin and warm out there, and next week might be mostly bringing wind/clouds with maybe some decent snow by the end of the week.
How do you local mags see next week’s conditions unfolding? Never skied Bachelor, so not sure how fun/miserable it gets there when windy/cloudy/early season conditions. Worth the drive or pivot plans?

Needs a lot more than forecasted to make it worth a drive like that, IMO. It’s thin.
GKWood, pivot. Crater Lake isn’t going yet. You might be able to scrape together some meager turns on Shasta but it’s doubtful. I don’t see Bachelor being worth it.
Thx for the feedback; pretty much confirmed the reality that I've been hesitant to accept. Oh well, hopefully 2024 brings the goods.
Around Xmas December 2014 was way worse than current conditions at mhm.

You should look at Red in Rossland. Sweet little him and a nice town.

Meager pickings.
If you end up in Rossland, check this place out. It’s walking distance to red and a sweet little place that makes a real breakfast for you. A lot cheaper than anywhere in the states that is walking distance to the slopes. Its been a while since I stayed here but the guy that ran the place was a total ski bum. He told me came to Mt Hood for 6 weeks after Whitefish closed and camped out the whole time while skiing everyday on the spring pass.
