6,1 190lbs, 25.5s in stiffened ZAs. For science I went -9.5 from TC on the mount. Followed Marshals lead and went to 1.5 base bevel before starting and lightly detuned the tips and tails with a gummy.
To start off I was struggling quite a bit due to how cold and styrofoamy the snow was, glide wasn’t good and the edges felt super sharp. Luckily styrofoam snow and ice is great and detuning and every run got better. So I’d say if you’re not a fiend for sharp skis one should just detune heavily from the start, spoiler alert it’s the drift you’re after anyway.
I ended up getting some absolutely amazing runs down couloir extreme and in spankys after they opened the chairs from wind hold and oh my, these things absolutely fly in smooth windbuff, full on video game mode drifting and making whatever turn shape you want. The only other skis I have experienced similar feels of frictionless acceleration on are the 191 Lhasa Pow and the 196 Renegade. That frictionless feel is one of my favorite things about skiing so I couldn’t be more stoked. This is obviously where these skis shine and I wish we got to ski more windbuff here at WB because it’s exhilarating.
In moguls they’re fine for what they are, the tips are stiff but you can work em well enough, especially at -9.5. They also got progressively better the more I skied them, so I’m excited to keep skiing them in and letting those edges calm down.
Also figured out how to lay trenches on them in the styrofoam by the end of the day so I’m sure we will get along well from here on, will however detune some more.
On the mount point I’d say it’s hard to tell if I am missing out on anything, really wish I could try them back as well and I’m still unsure where to mount my 194s.
I’m sure the groomer performance would improve slightly a cm back, but that’s not really important. In the 3D they just felt so similar to rens which is a really good thing to me.

Thanks for your science experiment. The mount point is the only reason I haven’t bought a pair. Even 9.5 is way far back for me. I’d need to be -8 at least. But it sounds like moving the mount doesn’t totally change the ski.

A down-in-the-weeds question about the cores of the Freeride line, mostly out of curiosity:
What is the ratio of bamboo to poplar? What are you aiming for with the proportions you're using? Is one a narrow pair of stringers to tweak pop or weight or screw retention or whatever while the other comprises the majority?
I'm a big fan of bamboo for its "calm pop" smoothness and resilience... but am wondering how much of its character will come through the complete layup w/ rubber, glass, etc also in the mix.

Tyrolia is my second favorite binding after pivots. I also have entirely too many bindings, so in the name of science I’m more than willing to donate a pair to the cause. The one off 194 with a slightly softer flex seems really interesting too. EHPs aren’t a stiff ski but are absolute chargers, mainly due to an awesome design. Seems like the fl113 takes a lot of design cues from the EHP. And you’ve also stated it takes elements of the faction 13. A great ski but the flex was just too much. Great for 2-4 runs. But a full day of tram laps on that ski was an absolute leg crusher.

Where is the line break between the FL113 and the R120? (apologies if this has already been asked). R120 comp build seems like a slightly more game-on replacement for the 186 OG Bodacious (nice), but the FL113 might be closer to a lovechild of the Bodes and M108s (also nice)? Is the answer just to buy both? I won't need much convincing.
Mounted up the 194s last night at -9.5 also went 1.5 on the base bevel, but barely removed any edge at all so they were well beveled from Marshal.
Less cold today, only -17c so much better quality snow across the mountain, but less crisp windbuff.
I like these even more than the 187s! The tune felt perfect from the first run and the mount point felt slightly more natural on the longer ski. The flex also feels a bit more compliant on the longer length which I enjoyed. Somehow they ski decent in moguls and they fly in the windbuff like their shorter brother.
The layup is outstanding, damp and stable with some pop that come more alive the faster you ski. They obviously feel a bit dead at moderate speeds, but the more you push the more fun they become.
Really great skis! I’m going to have a hard time picking other chargers in my “quiver”(collection) over these. Hopefully I can do some back to back testing over the next couple of weeks with skis like 193 EHPs, down SD105, older wrenegades, etc.
Altacoup I’m sure with your experience mounting other directional skis forward that you should be able yo enjoy these at -8, the “softer” tail isn’t punishing at all like on other skis.

Have been running the 187 FL113s around Tahoe for this storm cycle, can confirm that they work well in stupid deep snow. Going to be tough to justify any other inbounds chargers, my 190 wildcats have been getting dusty since these arrived.
