The delayed opening caused a backup but things got rolling and not too bad today. Lot 4 full by 8:40, lots of snowshoes and sledders up there.

Speaking of rope drops ... patroller knew he was going to get pummeled. Appreciate your sacrifice dude.

Got to watch a nice giants win in the AM then smash an empty chair in the PM. Upper mountain was just about perfect. SS, UI. All of it. Very nice. Lower was heavy, but still fun. Was still going strong at 5 pm, tomorrow good as well.

Just checking in to say I followed SVS down the right side of Nash. It was bonkers and almost unbelievable. SVS must have legs of steel because I had to stop to rest 3 times between the rope drop and the bottom of lower-I.
Here’s a pic of the big drop in SVS’s other video, look just under the empty chairs.

if i liked to hear SVS grunt any more we’d be fucking
thanks for the footy

Big deal at work blew up this morning as I was gearing up for powder Tuesday. Unfortunately I won't be able to join the mags and tech bros this morning for the pillaging and will have to be content with sloppy seconds tonight. Enjoy the first Powder Tuesday of '21. Eager to see the stoke from today!
I thought it was great. Lower 3rd was pretty heavy. Armstrong was basically ski on all morning. 2 was full till 12ish. Legs gave up sooner than I hoped. Sorry no photos.
Heck yeah! I made it up for a couple hours to close out the night with my 10yo. Cascade Traverse was closed so terrain was limited. Top 2/3rd of Armstrong was skiing great. Bottom was a bit sticky. Dumping as I'm leaving with smooth, creamy snow all the way to the bottom. Hoping it keeps up. I'm playing hooky from work to bring my 3 boys up tomorrow.
Night skiing was acceptable tonight. Soft and creamy chopped up powder. Padded seats will be worthwhile in the morning unless the snow level rises overnight
Man did it feel good to ski under the lights again! Lots of like minded ppl . Every one I shared a chair with was super stoked . All ages and ability levels Alpentalics to their core each and every one of them. Wind and snow hammering at the same time made for smooth turns in all the right places . Branch came down on the traverse to Ingrid's glad nobody got thunked on the head.
Vertigo inducing amounts of snow coming down as I headed down the pass . Leeward slopes will be extra loaded .I'm expecting a holding pattern for the padded seats in the AM for those lucky enough to partake in the pow slaying.

Righteous times for all. Gonna try for some PM, early evening laps tomororw. Whether it is realized or not tbd
Debating getting a late afternoon sesh on. Is the lower mountain moosh pooh or slideable fun?
Was up early today. Snow was deep but super manky and setting up quick all way up to the top. Excellent base building, but not a lot of fun to ski. By the afternoon it should be mostly packed down into pretty hard bumps. Still fun, but parking lot starting to empty out by 10:30 tells you all you need to know about how good it was.
Thanks for settling that indecision.
Groomers at West/Central could be excellent today, though. I had to run to the offices at West and saw them grooming it up. The corduroy was looking really nice.
Btw, it's insane how much snow we have already. Close to 150" base at the top and it's the first week of January. We'll be digging out the chair line above Rollen by the end of the season.
Which one of you kooks said hi to thing #2 today? And how in the world did you recognize him?
I did. Recognized his style plus the Blizzards on the feet.
We leapfrogged a run in Elevator, which was fucking spooky. The snow load on the trees currently is critical. Mature trees are falling over in the BC... not just a few, but many. Thousand pound tree bombs were leaving huge refrozen craters amongst deep-ass tree wells in super heavy mank. A big tree came down across the valley exit trail right at the bottom of the last downhill swoop... shit was NOT safe. Patrol closed it shortly after we returned to the resort.
