I think I posted this upthread somewhere - ordered a T&N mattress and hated it. Way too firm for us, my wife compared it to sleeping on the floor. Seemed decent quality though and I had no trouble getting my money back. Worth trying if you like beds on the firm side.
We have two bedinabox.com mattresses and they've been great. Oldest is 3 years old now. Also have an older Tempurpedic that's similar. Don't think I'll ever buy another innerspring mattress.
Was AWOL (Always West of Lincoln) in LA recently and saw a Casper showroom. Was unimpressed by the mattress...too soft for me or my GF. Not terrible by any means. Just meh.

Ghostbed anybody? Firmer than most, latex top, sleeps cool, made by Nature's Sleep. SLTD does not rate it. This review site likes Leesa, L&L and Ghostbed. We're shopping for a new mattress (in addition to lots of other stuff for our new home). This thread adds to the confusion.
Would be interested in how many others experienced this:
When I bought my BR Black I loved the one in the store (spent almost 2 weeks deciding it was the one). Sales guy warned me my new one wouldn't feel quite as comfy and told be to walk on it to help break it in when it arrived. I was hesitant because it sounded so weird and I had read so much about mattress sag that I didn't because I was afraid of hastening its demise. Boy was that a mistake.
The first night on my new mattress was not the dream I was dreaming about. It was hard and cold. Next day I got up and did a little dance on the mattress and it def. helped. Three (four?) years in now and the mattress is perfect. Broke in but without sag. It is comfy, cuddly, warm and wonderful - don't want to get up in the morning goodness.
Of all the mattresses I have in my guest house and main house, the one I have in the guest room in my main house is the one that gets the most raves. It is an Englander Mattress. They are made in Portland Oregon. I think I paid about $900 for it back in 2009. Didn't give it a whole lot of thought when I made the purchase but as I've said time and time again guests of all ages/sexes rave about how well they slept on it.Quote:

Not interested in innerspring. We've settled on memory foam, probably with a latex or latex-like (e.g., Avena foam) top layer. Research leads to conclusion that Tempurpedic is unnecessarily expensive. Leesa beats Casper in the head-to-head comparos I've read, e.g., mattressnerd, sleepopolis. We prefer a firmer mattress, which is why Ghostbed is on the list. Tempur is too expensive for what they are. Company is built on margin....lots of it. If you want foam, Icomfort is every bit the bed at a lower price. Other options like bed in box or Casper or T&N can be great. No bed is perfect and comfort is really subjective.
I've had the Novaform Serafina for several months now. Love it. Paid under $700 delivered and couldn't be happier. Plus you get the Costco peace of mind, since you can return it literally any time if you decide you're not happy with it (and they'll come and pick it up if you do). Honestly, if you have the option to buy anything at Costco, I'd weigh that heavily in your analysis since their customer service and return policy pretty much kicks the ass of anything else out there.Quote:

DO NOT try a Nest Bedding (Alexander Hyrbrid, Signature, Love Bed) mattress. Returning the item has been extremely frustrating. The owner wanted to send me a topper to make it more comfortable, but was very vague in saying that accepting the topper would mean that we could only exchange the mattress, not return it. I said I would go ahead and "keep" the mattress until the 30 days and he tried to tell me that because I said "keep" not "try", that it would void the refund policy. If the 30 day trial is not easy and painless, there is no reason to purchase a mattress online.
A friend of mine and his wife were over here for dinner the other night and somehow the topic got to mattresses. They told us that they still sleep on the mattress he had when they met in college. He graduated college in 1982. wtf?
That's gross.
I couldn't justify 2k on the flobed. Just ordered a t&n. I'll report back after I get a few nights on it. Found this review on Amazon:
"I really like the mattress and I like the way these guys do business. Can't bitch about the price either! On top of that, as it were, it makes for a great sex platform too...and at my age I need a slow comfortable screw!"

After much searching we went with Loom & Leaf (made by Saavta) firm king for $1400. Great reviews, comparable to $4,600 Tempur Pedic Contour Elite Breeze. Closing house/shop purchase today, taking delivery of mattress in next 10 days.
I'm always skeptical of Amazon reviews, but that one sounds legit.Quote:

Yeah for sure. I wouldn't blame you either way. I think it's pretty stupid they created a Groupon that voids a key component of the buying experience/product. But whatever. I understand where you're coming from but in my experience any and all sales on Groupon for any company are final. You have to think of it as big business, because it is. As a large company, we understand people want discounts so that's offered through some promo deals that we have, and I go through hundreds of returns a day just from GhostBed alone and we issue hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of refunds for GhostBed alone each year. If the company as a whole always did refunds and returns due to not liking the bed for every customer that purchased a GhostBed not on GhostBed.com, GhostBed would make no money and the company would go bankrupt.
It's just like a car dealership that tries to sell their old cars that have been on the lot for a few years: the warranty still applies but it can't be returned because you don't like it and want a new car.
Again, I understand where you're coming from and if I were the owner of the company I would at least have a 10 day return policy but unfortunately it can't happen that way and I'm not the owner. Hopefully you can understand the business banter and even if you don't choose GhostBed for yourself, maybe someone you know would love one for the holidays.

It's just a risk/reward tradeoff. There's no market in used mattresses (it's even illegal to sell them some places) so the company eats the full cost on returns. So when they sell you a mattress at full price they're taking on a risk that you won't like it - in which case they'll lose money. By buying the groupon you're assuming that risk in return for a discount. They get a lower margin on the sale but they're assured of a profit (assuming they don't put the discounted price below their cost). You can decide for yourself whether it's a good tradeoff. Personally I would pay full price and keep the return option, unless I'd bought a previous bed from the same place and had good assurance that it hadn't changed.
