sound in the beacon is always nice.
Thanks mr chairlift.
It's tough to follow the last couple shows with an '82. Different period in the bands history but if you dig early 80's this one is very good. Jerry's guitar isn't winning any awards and at times is just plain bad but he does interject some good stuff here and there. His playing is erratic. Sometimes it is surprisingly good....and sometimes.... Typical of the era for most of the band. JG makes up for his mediocre playing with some excellent vocals throughout the show. Most of the show is pretty hot. Although the second set doesn't have any surprises, it's very well played. Scarlet-fire-estimated-eyes is worth waiting til you can turn it up.

i know it's a side project and all, but
good ol' '78. do yourself a service and listen to it on something better than laptop/pad speakers.
DSO played this show a few weeks ago in Boulder, I have been digging it a lot. I always liked '85

That's a great show for that year. I always liked '85, at least when Jerry was acceptable to be playing music. So much focus on his condition then. Granted, he was a disaster but there are some really fantastic shows, sets and songs in '85.
This tape, (different source), was a go to for me for a long time. Thx for bringing it back...haven't gone back to '85 in a while.
Summer/Fall of 85 have always been some of my favs, some lackluster moments but the rest of the band always seemed to step it up when Jerry wasn't on form. I was at Hershey a few weeks later and although not by any means a stand out show there are some really strong moments (Jerry in red with a black blazer in the pouring rain). Merriweather, Saratoga, Chula Vista and both Byrne shows among others are nights where everything seemed to come together.
This one has always been a go to for me, second set is easily top 3 for the year imo.

Smokin shakedown 85 style

Sorry to jump in the middle of the '85 stoke but I thought I'd toss this out there. I may have posted the link before. Can't remember.

Fall '83 has some gems. This is one of my favorites from that ear. There are a few really good mixes if you don't find this particular one to fit the bill but I think you'll dig it.
I think there is a matrix on archive.org . Haven't looked in a while.
Agreed, one of the better tleo's and big rr you will hear in that era and some interesting 2nd set jams. The source I have is the seamons matrix which is on archive but I got it off etree I think, possibly LL. There is also another sbd source that I believe would be better also. Somewhat surprised there's not a CM matrix for this.
Here is the etree link.

Late Edit: Thanks to schwerty I'm now on a 24hr '83 binge! A bunch of solid shows I haven't listened to in too long. This one stands out, the playin' is worth the listen alone (has a great 77-78 vibe imo) and from another Seamons matrix with a little assistance from Charlie. The night before is no slouch either (Dick's Picks #6).
