Criss Angel

what do you guys think of him?
I feel he's probably the most talented at his field to ever come along.
just saw some of that nbc show phenomenon and he called out a contestant
who claimed to have psychic abilities. he's always been adamant about the fact that psychics are frauds, and has actually done shows where he gets people to believe that he's psychic, then shows how he tricked them. anyways the nbc show is live and they had to go to commercial because angel and the 'psychic' almost came to blows. it was the best part of the show i saw.

I fucking hate Criss Angel. Don't even get me started on that ass clown.

figured this would happen. he seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way.
if you consistently watch him perform, you can't deny that he's amazing. again, probably the best and most innovative in his field to ever come along.

the tricks are kinda cool but most rely on retakes or are simply complete setups (audience is in on the trick). sometimes he'll do a trick and the camera will cut to the amazed faces in the audience, but theses audiences are edited from other tricks or other re-takes of the same trick. for example, he'll do trick A (a simple trick) to get the audience reaction shots and then show the same people a difficult trick B. for trick B, he tells them he is going to reveal to them how it's done, so he doesnt have to do it right. he simply shows them how. the camera films him from all the right angles to make it look like he is performing the trick. the only magic is that of tv editing.

Well, having watched his TV show a number of times, I agree that this could be the case, but until I've seen him in person, I really can't say one way or another. I think his show has had it's moments, but he seems to repeat the same things in different contexts. The people who he levitates seem genuinely surprised while it's happening.

I want to see a David Blaine, Criss Angel death match at Everest. I got my money on Blaine.

Maybe if he wore tighter pants I would like him more.

I used to be a non-professional magician myself, Criss Angel is really a joke in the magic community. He tends to stay away from tricks utilizing any sort of sleight-of-hand and is infamous for his TV editing skillz. His tricks are usually instantly transparent to anyone who knows even the basics of sleight-of-hand or mentalism.
