Vid camera is inside the ball? Is that just for rotating or some sort of steadying system as well?
Oh, and the first photo answered something else I have been wondering - how Fritz reacts around the chopper. I kind of imagined him maybe chasing after the thing and trying to take it out. Although I supposed that would only happen one time. :D
initially thought ball was for protection, but i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it is also just as important for insulation. Flying in winter 5 inches beneath the rotors = some nasty cold temps with windchill = no battery life = sad trackhead.
just a guess, but my guesses turn out to be right most of the time
I'm working on a multi axis inertial gyro stabilizer. Probably won't be working until spring. For now, the ball is to protect a few hundred bucks of receivers, downlinks, and other electronic gizmos.
It's like a Baby Wescam. Awesome.
