There was a thread like this over at P-Mag, but it was lost with all the others a while back, so why not restart it here? What do you think the best spot in the world is/favorite spot in the world? Oh yeah, and why is it the best/favorite.
I'll start it off, anywhere in the backcountry around W/B; huge mountains, tons of snow, usually fairly stable, scenery is unrivalled, at least by anywhere I've ever been.

thats a tough question i think. .. i've been a lot of really cool places but i know there is SO much more to see and experience. i might put lenas at the top of the list right now though. and i'm pretty sure i don't need to list the reasons. ;) i'm sure my answer would change every few years or so.

As Lynx said, this is a tough question. I've been fortunate to have traveled quite a bit growing up being raised in an airline family and I've learned a couple things. One was that the more places I go to, I realize there are even more places left to go to. Another was that, often times the company you are with is what makes a place the best place in the world.
A few for me given the mood I'm at the moment in no particular order...
Victoria Peak, Hong Kong - Last big trip/male bonding with my stepdad and brother. Awesome view of the harbor, city and kowloon peninsula with awesome people.
Eiffel Tower, Paris - High school trip with a bunch of people I hardly knew but became family with by the end of the trip as we slaughtered the french language together.
Canyons New Year Storm, 2004 - Skied chest deep powder with good friends and met many new ones that day. I'll never get over seeing so many smiles from the soul in one place.
College. All of it.
Dominican Republic. Spring Break high school.
Where I live.
Top of the King at Crystal. On a clear day, you can see Adams, Baker, St Helens, Rainier (of course), and, sometimes, Hood. On a cloudy day, you feel as if you've just summited everest or something (except that it was lots easier). You know the feeling though, isolated on a summit, prepping to ski down... i love it.
Red Light District - Amsterdam.
Breathtaking scenery and friendly locals.

Iguazu Falls on the Brazil/Argentina border. Words and pictures cannot do this place justice. One of the most overwhelming sensory experiences i have ever had, and we even managed to find a bit of solitude amongst the throngs of tourists.
anyone going skiing in south america this summer should seriously think about taking a couple days and catching a flight from Mendoza or Buenos Aires to Iguazu.

The top of the King ties for first with sitting on the lower saddle of the Grand Teton at 8 am looking down on the valley. Sitting right below the last pitch to the summit of the Matterhorn; riding horses with my granddad in the fall in the Gros Ventre range in Jackson; looking out at the Alps from the Auguille du Midi; waterskiing with my family on Jackson Lake; watching sunset over the sea in Riomaggiorre Italy; watching sunset over the Tetons...ahhh, I have traveled so much and there is no place like home.Quote:
