So after my Patagonia Lightning jacket totally fell apart after less than 2 years, I sent it in to get repaired/replaced. And what showed up at my house a couple days ago but a Patagonia gift card for $190 (not bad since I bought the jacket when I worked at a dealer for $110). And today I went to the Patagonia store in Boston and came home with this: M's Dimension Jacket
Snappy. I have many many many Pataguch jackets, having worked at the Newbury st. store- when people return stuff the employees can buy it for very cheap (like $5 for a fleece, $10 for a goretex shell), so I stocked up. The downside is that I have no need to ever buy a jacket again- but I suppose I could return something I got as a return for some new sweetness.
Damn ethics.

You shouldn't be too pissed. Although it is a great gear hook-up (you can get broform through 'em), it's not a dream job by any means. It's definitely Newbury St., meaning the clientele are not exactly your hardcores- they're mostly mothers from Weston/Lincoln/Sudbury/Concord/etc. who try on about 8 sweaters only to reject them all because they don't go with the bandanna their black lab is wearing. And for every cool piece Patagonia makes, they make 3 more or less identical fleece whatsamajiggers (this ones got a pocket! this one doesn't!) you end up folding over and over again. Sometimes it can be fun, though- I got Employee of the Month once for selling some Euro duder not one but two Ice Nine one-pieces, for $900 each. It was the middle of August, and the guy was looking for something to wear when it got cold.
they are very good about repairs/refunds. i sent back a 4 year old dimension jacket b/c the waterproof zipper had gone awol and they put a new one in there and sent it back to me free of charge.
