Anyone have any good recommendations for places to car camp/mtb in the summit or vail area (besides the resorts)? GFP and I wanted to have a little fun before I leave for texas next week and I'm going to miss all the fall mountain biking, so figured a biking/camping weekend would be a good way to go. :) I have to be at Abasin on Sunday so that's why we're trying to find something close to there.

You can camp in the keystone parking lot(it's kinda nice to have a shitter right there) or on montezuma rd, or loveland pass has camp spots if you keep your eyes open. If you want to pay for camping, there are some nice spots up swan mt rd.
As for the vail side I have no idea unless you go through minturn and up the pass a ways.
Eastvail campground is pretty sweet but not free.
Get off at EV exit, head back east on the south frontage rd and it will end at the campground.
Homestake Rd outside of redcliff is also....real NICE.
There used to be some spots of Swan Mtn Road I think?
Lots of free camping up Red Sandstone Road out of North Vail. Good access to North Trail, Son of Middle Creek, Lost Lake, etc., but the hunters will be swarming...
