as some of the winter clothing is starting to hit the racks and new catalogs arrive at the house i'm starting to notice something.....columbia clothing has come a longgggggg way. actually they have some great hiking footwear i've noticed too - did they hire someone from patagucci, marmot, or north face recently?

bought a pair of Columbia soft shell pants last year from STP, figured if they sucked I got a great deal.
REALLY impressed with the quality and design
pockets are in the right spots, it breathes like a dream, there are no stupid useless bells and whistles and they held up through some pretty extremo ski thicketeering
I like, and would really like to see if this is a trend. I've been SOL since EMS has moved away from making their house brand clothing actually useful for skiing in the backcountry, and has instead decided that its more important to have camo and faux fur on everything they put out

our shop sells columbia, my main ski jacket is the
Selkirk.
Their high end shells in particular are damn close
to being right on par with the best of the best.
