too small for a p18??

ive been head over heels trying to find bindings for my 08seths the past few weeks, gathering info, trying to find them...and am going crazy.... so...i ride a 26.5 solomon boot, i weigh 160, height 5 11, ski length 179, skiied a din 8 for park, will prob ski higher on the seths. I want to stay away from soli bindings, ive heard great things about the pivot heel on looks/rossis from my bud down in argentina at the moment. Planning to use the ski for bc powder/jibbing, i tend to be hard on my bindings, i want this pair to outlast the skis....whats my best option...can i get away with a p18 or am i asking for trobble? ive look high and low for a p14 in good shape but everyone is hording these bindings like diamonds. Ive sent a few pms and have gotten some really great responses, but just want to get a collective opinion.

please help me put my mind to ease and make this alittle easier

Just go for the fks155s and call it a day....Its got the best of both worlds: turnable heel+metal body and a reasonably low starting din. of 6. Crank them at 9-10ish and you set to go. I got those on my jib skis, I weight 180lbs and its perfect! Their going for the reasonably good price of 195$usd at www.coloradofreeride.com

that said, if you can find some p18s, i don't think skiing them on 8.5 or 9 will be too much of an issue. a friend of mine with more money than skiing ability does that and hasn't had any issues

p18s are nothing to be afraid of. They release way smoother than any other binding I've been on. Rock em at 9 or higher and you'll have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Get the 15s if you can find em for the same price, but if not, go p18/fks185.

yea, i would def perfer a 155 however finding them has been a tough job....i cant blow 200$ on new bindings....ive been able to find p18's for way less than fks bindings...and the only guys ive seen on p18's are 200lbs plus, and at 150 i feel waay small, even if i do ride a 8-9din

Since you've gone from 160 last night to 150 this morning, I suggest marketing your weight loss tips. Should should earn more than enough to pay for $200 bindings.

Realistically, at a buck-fifty you'd do just fine with a fks-120 and save some cash as well.

Ive had to many 12din binding solomons fail on me on powder days resulting in a massive hunt through the snow for missing skis.... Thanks for the help guys, I will keep my eyes open....does anyone here ski a p12 on their big mountain skis? I really want to have the option of running a din 11. it seems like all i can find are p12 and p18's....where the hell are all the p14's....

I have the p12s on my mother ships set on about 11, and have had no prerelease issues. I am about 180 lbs.
Also, go with the p18/fks if you can find them, i have older fks on another ski and i like them a lot. That being said, they are also set to 13, and very rarely come off.

While this is true^^^, you just asked other people if you can "get away" with race bindings. If you need em, it's not a question. Don't hurt yerself skiing a high din for no reason...

word man, if the p14 and fks 155 are hiding out and so damn hard to find...what else is out there? i dont want to skimp on the bindings very much at all...i need something solid...very solid that wont hold me back by cracking appart or falling off like in past experiances.

I have old school metal toe peice Looks w/ pivot heel din to 10. I'd sell for 45 dollars.

Tyrolia Mojo 15s/Fischer X17s? Good DIN range, lots of metal, lightweight, supposedly good release characteristics. It's hard to find a bad review of them, but it's also hard to find a really good review of them i.e. people don't seem to love them as much as 916s or P18s. Most reviews I read are positive though.

I ski p12's full time on some LP's. I come in at 5'7" and 150lb and have the DIN set at 10-10.5. They have never come off when they weren't supposed to.

However, if you set your DIN at 8 like you stated in the first post then it becomes more clear why you are losing skis in the powder.

mojos have almost no metal, although thats a common misconception. They have a metalish paint on them, that feels like metal. Once it wore off on mine, i figured out theyre plastic. However, they seem to be burly plastic, I haven't had any issues with mine, at about 60 days on em maybe. Some people also say they ski sloppy.

I got mine after using 914s for a while, but before I started using p18s. I got them cus p18s scared me. I wish I'd have just gotten p18s.

I charged and hauled on my 914s(on 189 Seths) this past season. They withstood abuse and 40+ foot drops and I never released when I didnt want to. Im 185cm and 170lbs.

Gonna get 916s for the first time and stick em on my ANTs this coming season.

Where are you finding p18's for less then fks bindings? Everywhere I look the p18's are $100 more.

If you can find me a decent rossi/look or smilar binding with a max din higher than 12 for less than 100clams......pm me asap and sign me up....the lowest price ive seen on a fks 155 bindings is 150$ and they are in a very used condition.

Go to eBay and find a pair of Salomon 997 Equipes or S900's with a 14 DIN. Can probably be done for <$50.

Huh, I'll have to check. I was pretty sure both the toe and heel are mostly hollow metal. My wife's got a pair so I'll check when I get home.

do the p12/14/18 have the same drill pattern? so if i get a p12 and find the din to loose, i wont have to redrill if i step up a notch?

P18 have a different heel pattern while the 12 and 14 have the same.

I can't imagine you having any trouble with 12's. I have p12's and px12's on 188 Beasts and 185 Scratch BC's. Din to 11, no problem at 155lbs.

backcountry .com has some good deals on p12's.
If youre not hell bent on the 18's, id go with those. Ski them on 10 and youll be all set.
