TR-BARILOCHE-Cerro Chall Huaco
I wasn't going to post this TR because it was more of a recon tour than anything, but we hit a great line that some folks would appreciate. And the forum is getting riddled with too much warm weather crap for me as the temps have been hitting -10 to-15 C lately in Bariloche.
WHO: EnLosAndes and Yours Truely
WHERE: Cerro Chall Huaco, Bariloche Backcountry, Northern Patagonia, Rio Negro, Argentina
WHEN: About a week ago, when we had a warm break before the Antarctic winds blew through.
WHAT: Recon mission to check out possible lines and access around Refugio Neumeyer.
We started out as early as humanly possible for two people that don't work (9am). Made it to the Neumeyer turnoff road, put it into 4x4, and somehow safely arrived at the Refugio about 45 minutes later through some sketchy iced-over dirt roads.
After about two easy hours of touring, we made it to the summit of Cerro Chall Huaco, with beautiful views of the area.
Some future possibilities:

We traversed the peak, looking for something slightly better than the low angle bowl where we ascended. After traversing about half way around, we stumbled upon a few nice lines, perfectly corned up.

Of course traversing around the peak for these lines meant skinning thru lenga forest for at least three hours, crossing several streams to get back to the car.

Seven hours car to car was a bit much for that one line, but we familiarized ourselves with the area and the next possibilities. Lots of terrain out there, but as always 'round these parts, access is an issue. Meanwhile, more snow in the forecast for Bariloche.
