...aaaand that ended the day. fuck St. Croix. It's not a big fish...I've had a smaller Cabela's rod hoist much bigger fish no problem. First and last St. Croix I ever buy, and they will hear about it...:cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

Way to get out. Don't bag St. Croix too much, I'm sure it was a defect and they'll replace it for free (Unless you got it second hand of course. If so, a little sweet talkin' may get you a new one regardless.)

Got it though cabela's. Called them up and they will replace it.

It was a 7'6" heavy, fast action, but in retrospect the fast action with heavier weight = too much pressure in the spot it broke. I'm replacing it with a medium heavy with the hope it will distribute the flex a bit more evenly.
