Obviously some Mormons ski, but it seems like Utards are mostly Mormons and skiers in Utah are mostly not. Is that impression true?

Here we go again....
And all New Yorkers grew up in the Bronx, and will shank you for a hot dog.
as far as I know, they tell me,.. "You why did you move here?? Don't You have mountains in Vermont???" I say "You really don't appreciate the wasatch range very much & know how awesome it is."
Well maybe there'd be more but, but I keep telling the missionaries to F-off when they show up on my door step.... :D
L
they are too busy eating babies too ski
Huh. I thought they grew up in Brooklyn and will shank me for no reason at all.
It would make sense if Mormons came to Utah to be closer to the Tabernacle and such, while skiers came to be closer to the "greatest snow on Earth." It just seems like even if you are there for another reason, you'd tap the state's best natural resource.
utah's best natural resource:

i was in williamsburg last night. a friend lives on the corner of conselyea and graham. tony's or carmine's? i like carmine's.. my friend likes tony's. so last night we had a pepsi challenge. i still like carmine's. he still likes tony's.
both are better than anything you can get in suffern.
utah, too, probably.
I did want to call you retarded, but I won't cause you don't know any better.
Having grown up in a Mormon family, we all skied. My parents made sure to get me on skis by the age of 3 (along with my other 4 awesome siblings that still ski to this day). All of my family skis and pretty much all of my exteneded family skis or tries to ski when they can-so do all of their friends and family that live here.
There are way more LDS people that ski or board in this state than the one, two or three that you must be referring to.
I would respond to this thread, but I'm late for church!
Altachic is right... I think he just doesn't know any better. Thousands of people in Utah ski everyday at the numerous resorts during the season, and I'd venture to say the majority of them ARE Mormon. Granted, there may be less of them skiing on Sunday's because they are attending church. Mormons also ride bikes, play football, baseball, soccer, go fishing etc. There is nothing in their religion saying they can't participate in outdoor and athletic activities. To ask why Mormons don't ski, especially in an area like Utah makes absolutely no sense. Some of my Utah friends used to tell me that if I was going to go skiing in Utah on a weekend, to go on Sunday because the crowds would be less; implying that the Mormons would be in church, which is to imply that Mormons do ski - alot of them. Obviously, Utah ski areas are still busy on Sunday's anyway because of all the other visitors as well.
Altachic,
But you do have to admit, that while there are lots of mormons that do ski, there are way more mormons here that don't (and in a way that's too bad (and in a way it's not!!! (more pow for me!) ;) )) I don't think it's relegious thing, I think it' s a money thing. For many folks it's just too expensive to outfit Mom, Dad, & multiple kids on one income, even if you do live here. I do however think it's one demographic that ski free after 3 appeals to..

No matter what religion you are, skiing is expensive. It has nothing to do with being Mormon. That goes for any state that has multiple ski areas that people just can't afford to use.
You all have valid points, I just wanted to make sure ya'll knew that that the first post in this was a pretty stupid question.
I'm just sayin'
That's what I like about skiing Sundays at Targhee...it is often much less crowded than saturday, or in the afternoons that the Rick's kids come to ski.
I don't mind most mormons, I just can't stand the ones keep who trying to convert me, and don't look at situations from other points of view. I was raised Catholic, and I always looked at situation from another point of view, to get an accurate view.
I am stunned when people in SLC don't even go up LCC to hike, camp, or just to get out the city heat. I understand skiiing costs a lot of money, but most people in other cities are stunned when I tell them about this, when they have to travel a lot further to get into the wild.
