Making the Big Move, Any Advice?

well the descision has been made, a couple friends and i are making the big move from the soggy snow-less maritimes to somewhere we can stretch our skiing and riding legs as well as have some fun along the way.

now we have done a lot of talking with our local friends/relatives who have been there and done exacty what we are planning, but it has been a while for most of them and we've gotten a lot of different advice. usually its dependant on weather or not the perticular person is more on the party side of the fence or the skiing/riding side of the fence.

now this is where you guys come in with any of our infinite wisdom that we would really aprechiated. a few things to consider as well as a few questions we have are:

-looking at most of western canada as an option. i would prefer eastern BC towns and hills like Kicking Horse, Fernie or Red because im more looking for good skiing, but i have one friend is is pretty much dead set on Whistler because all she really wants to do is party. where would be a good compromise?

-would like staff accomodation but advice on any other options would be great.

-this is a cross country road trip so we'll have a car and a short commute (10-20 mins) from where we live to where we work/ski wont be a problem for us.

-we are planning on getting ski/snowboard instructor jobs that we want to secure before we get there.

-we all have level 2 CSIA or CASI certificaltion as well as various CADS freestyle and CSCF certificaltions to throw on resumes so although yes we are ski instructors, we are not total jongs at it.

-a couple of us have relatives and friends in calgary so any good spots within a couple hours might be preferable. but not really nescesary.

other than that we're just looking for the obvious things to be answered like where are we going to find the good snow? parties? people? and all that stuff that makes life worth living. we havent really ruled any possibilities out like living in a camper van... not my first choice though. thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give us, it'll be greatly aprechiated.

Spelling is important, doesn't look like the English teacher made much of an impact.

i will try to keep my spelling misteaks to a minimum in the future as to not ruin your day.

There's so much information on this both on this forum and online in general. These are the places I've looked into -

In-town:
Tahoe (South seems to be the cheapest way to go if you want a mountain in your town. Good nightlife also. Easier to find a house with a bunch of dudes in bunk beds living cheap. North seems to have more variety of mountains and a little bit more expensive, little bit more tame nightlife. Obviously there are accept ions, blah blah.)

Crested Butte (When looking at towns I would ultimately like to live in post-ski bum experience this is the highest for me. Awesome little town, good night life, amazing mountain, great summer activities, close to Gunnison which has a 4 year univ. Live in CB, not Mt CB)

Summit County (This is probably where i'll be going in august. Seems expensive for what you're paying for, but passes are cheap, night life is good in breck and its close to denver/boulder. I'm still trying to find if people go the route of ultra-cheap and share rooms for a season.)

Park City (Don't really know anything about)

~30min away from mountain:
Sandy, UT (Cheap living, no night life, great snow 30min away but alta doesn't allow snowboarders)
Bend, OR (Been out here twice and loved it, both times in summer/fall though. Good nightlife, nice downtown, 30min from Mt Bachelor, 2.5-3 from Hood. Can find super cheap housing on the east side of town. Somewhere I could defiantly move to for more than a season)
Leadville, CO (Cheap, close to copper mountain, good summer activities, not so sure about night life)
Ogden, UT (Buncha ski companies are moving here, seems like a good place to be. Not sure about night life)
Wenatchee, WA (Mountain in-town, few others within an hour or two away. The Snoqualmie pass seems like a good deal, good night skiing. Not a lot of sunshine.)

There's also the big cities - Denver, Seattle, Portland, SLC, Sacramento, etc that all have their ups and downs.

And I have no idea about canada other than if I had the time to deal with visa's and shit right now I would move to Banff in a second.

Most mountains are going to offer employee housing, some seems better than others, but overall if you want to live close to the mountain and meet people and don't mind over paying a little cause you're having the time of your life, it would be good. I haven't looked into any employee housing as I'd hopefully like to end up working the hotel/busser/janitor night job in town, and I have a dog.
